i have been pulled over about 8 times and never ran into a ass of a cop, they have all been pretty cool and never had a ticket. just treat them with respect and you will get it back, well most of the time according to some people in here, but your bound to run into a ass i have just been lucky

I don't wish harm onto anyone nor do I think it's funny when a cop crashes.  I've only been pulled over twice; once on base (a$$holes) and once off base.  The only reason I got pulled over was because I was in a group and I guess the cop wanted his presence to be known.  It wasn't that big of a deal.  The only thing I hate about them is the fact that I when I want to hit the twisties they take that fun away.

Most of the cops I have run into on the bike have been cool.  I was pulled over for going 91 in a 50 on a deserted back road.  I pulled over right away and took my helmet off and placed my keys on the ground and then slowly got off the bike. He asked me why he shouldn't take me to jail.  I just pointed out that the road was empty and that no one was in danger except myself and I was just having a little fun.  I then said we both know that I could have twisted the throttle and lost you with little effort as the road started to wind.  No jail time and not even a ticket.  He even said he wouldn't stop me again if the road was empty as long as I kept bothe wheels on the ground.  He really only wanted to run my tags and check my liscense.
Most cops are reasonable, but there is always going to be a$$holes.  Most cops treat people on a person by person basis and they deserve the same in return.

I got two verbal warnings yesterday.  That's the first time that's ever happened.  The first time the cop was just gettin me to respect his authoritay (37 in a 30...not even keepin up with the car in front of me)  the second was 60 in a 30.  Maybe it helped that when I showed my license they saw it was my bday...jerks.

I only hate the ones in Sussex Wisconsin because they are dickheads and arrest me at 5am on Saturday morning for like unpaid parking tickets, three times too! F U SUSSEX PIGS! The cops that have REAL cop jobs like in real cities and such I don't care about. It's the small town ones that call 2 extra squad cars when you go into the town park at like midnight and surround you looking like they want to shoot  you because the park apparently closes at 9 when there is no sign so they tell you to go to city hall and read some paper then you go to a well lit strip mall and they come in sirens and lights ablazin again to kick you out of there and then tell you to go to pick n save. THOSE guys are jerks!

No offense, but, I'm pretty sure the arrest at 5AM on Saturday is a message.... Pay your parking tickets!

Or, don't park illegally.....

Thanks for all the comments.  I'm glad to see that the over all image is really not that bad, at least not as bad as I thought.  If I can now reply back to a few posts

I will never say cops are perfect, we make mistakes like the rest of the world.  Unfortunately our mistakes hang in the minds of most and people hate us even when they are not  involved in the situation being complained about. For example its the cops fault your buddy got a ticket for speeding or stunting and thats why you hate that cop even though you have never had any contact with that paticular cop.  The reality of it is that people never call cops when things are good.  You ever call a cop when you are having a good day, won the lotto, or bought a new car or motorcycle.  No matter what you opinion about cops is just remember that when you call for us yelling some one broke into your house, some one pulled a gun on you, you were involved in an accident, or any other serious issue we'll come running to you lights and sirens, putting our lives on the line to do our job and help/protect you.  Many police officers have died to protect you , never thinking twice what your opinion about them really was.

Once again thank you for all of the posts and this is not intended to become an arguement post, just a simple question that I asked other riders to answer.

I know what your saying, i work for vbpd. people always say comes are ass's and so on. Every ticket i got i deserved and dont regret them because it has straightned me up. like u said people never call officers for good reasons, here to do ur job and live to the next day. there are dickhead cops out there that i dont trust for shit. other cops specifically are traf patrol that will look for certain things like mc's stunting and speeding. for people that hate officers prolly give them shit everytime they get pulled over. like me im nice till u piest me off then after that i will be the biggest asshole u know. so respect to the badge cuz 1 day they may save ur life and then ur whole persona of them will change i promise everyone that.

Hayaku893   Why do you still call cops jerks after two breaks in one day?  Now 37 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone to me is a little slow for a stop, i usually wait until about 15 mph over posted speed, but its a good stop.  But 30 over the posted limit you should have been cited, and in some cases could have been arrested.  Now I bet the next time you get stopped and get a ticket you will still complain about the cops, not for giving you a break, but for the ticket you deserve.  I can tell already its lose lose with you.

Snowboarding83 - So you got arrested for unpaid parking tickets and hows that the cops fault.  Why would you be angry with the cop, he did not make you not pay your tickets.

It seems like no matter what cops do most people will blame them for their own faults and talk bad about the cops.
When's the last time a cop has done something good for you.  For example not given you a ticket, had reason to but did not take you to jail, or was just plain friendly ( you know there are some cops that just are friendly).
Once again thank you for your time and posts.

Why do you hate and/or dislike cops?

Small town cops are the worst. Big city cops like NY & Chicago are cool.  Southern cops tend to be worse than northern cops.  My guess is it comes down to our experiences. We see a cop with a radar gun on a busy road when two blocks away there are crack houses and drug dealers. We see speeding as a non-issue, they see it as a way to generate numbers to be used by some bean counter to get more funding.

I've gotten 1 speeding ticket in the past 12 years so I am not angry about that, it is just that they seem so 'useless'.

I prefer the National Guard, they were great during all the hurricanes we had a couple of years ago.

Hmmm...well, what do I like/dislike about Cops?...I have no problem with them at all! Like another member said, if I get pulled over, I'll treat them with respect, etc. Yeah, there are "dirty" cops out there, but almost all of them are out there to help you. And to you who "hate cops"...What would you do if your life/family/friends were in danger, or perhaps you wrecked your bike out in BFE or wherever, you're all f**ked up, can't move or whatever and a cop may be the only person available to help you? Are you going to tell him "Oh no, please don't help me?!"...my cousin happens to be a cop, and he's out there to help people not to be an arsehole. Although I had a problem with this cop here in town. I call him "Midge" short for midget. He's only 4'10"<if that, and is the biggest arse in the world. I was out riding one day, well, I have to go through town to get anywhere...I had the visor up on my helmet to get some fresh air and to cool down a lil bit being that it was 90* out, well, he pulled me over and the next thing I know, I'm sitting in the back of the cruiser and then taken to jail, why, well he said that I wasn't wearing eye protection, said that something could fly up and get in my eyes and then I'd be a danger to the public, then he took me to jail! Yes, jail. I had my lawyer call the Municipal Judge, she explained to him what went on, he just laughed, said he'd take to the officer, I was released and the charges were dismissed. Just remember, most of them are out there to help you and make sure we're safe, getting the low lifes off the streets and so on, they're not out there to "hurt" you.

I get more attention in my car, than on my bike. The cops here are 50/50 for the most part. But I try not to bring any attention to myself. Unless there are plenty of ladies, casue fellows you they loves the bikes, and what comes with them.

I can't say much bad things about police here in Canada, they are pretty leanient here.
For example back in 1997 i was riding my bike home at around 3am and decided to give it a bit to much throttle......................i ended up hitting 132 km/h in a 50km/h zone (stupid me). well as i got closer to the stop sign i seen the door of the cruiser at the corner with his radar pointed at me................damn.........so i quickly geared down and stopped right beside him, took of my helmet and kissed his butt. he didn't even need to get out of the car. He showed me the radar gun flashing 132, i was speechless. He proceeded to tell me how i can loose my license, insurance would sky rocket, safety.......etc. Believe it or not he let me off with a warning. Thank god

So basically i have no problem with the police.
