Searched entire site and couldnt find anything to help me out so im just gonna ask..The question pertains to a 00 F4.. Just got my 16,000 mile service.. Have about 250 miles on it since service.. Filled up with 91 octane the other day (usually run 89) now the bike has hard start.. Sometimes I gotta choke it, sometimes I gotta hold it WOT and just hold the electric start till it will fire.. It also sputters and feels like its not runnin on all cylinders when I take off.. Somethin I should check or should I take it back to the dealer that service it (seein how I did spend almost $1100 on work that was done on it).. Thanks for all the help in advance guys..

Well, if you just spent the money for a check up and this happened, by all means, take it back in.

If it were my bike and I just paid for this service, I would make a call ASAP to the shop. I would want this problem to be on record. Then of course schedule a service on this bike pronto.

16K service includes valve check/adjustment if needed....that'll run about $400 itself...so the other is a bit high for clutch replacement and parts...but not too bad.

don't use 91. your bike doesn't need it unless you have advanced the timing.

Does the ignition advancer from factory pro actually make a difference? I was thinking about installing one when I do the clutch.

yup it does work, but you will need to run premium and/or rejet.
be careful with it cause our bikes can't pull timing like cars can via the ECU.

yubraggin, what are others saying about 87? that it's crap gas or something similar? it' just octane rating...the quality of gas has to do with getting it at chevron vs. Joe's eatery/gas station...and even they can have some decent gas!

I would wonder if they re-set your idle really low after the carb sync....?

Lowest octane without detonation will make the most power.  I wrote a rather long explaination of this once on a Ski-doo forum.  Running higher octane makes you a victim of good marketing.

Gas and oil are commodities.  For example "shell" stations might have BP gas in them that was made from Chevron oil.

$1100...hmmm....just guessing....$225 for a clutch, $225 for a tire (on the bike), $50 for an oil change.  That leaves $600 for a valve adjustment, carb sync, fuel filter, air filter and plugs....if they indeed did all that.

I am glad I do all my own work....I don't know how any of you can afford to ride a cycle with prices like that.
