ORIGINAL: Tahoe SC awesome post... i think my personal quote will work perfectly here... "let the ignorance die with the ignorant". let's not let someone who's a total newb tell us how it is ok? so let's all keep our panties from bunching up. BTW...wrenching on a car is NOT like wrenching on a bike...granted parts are similar...they aren't the same. the OP bought a POS and couldn't fix it...even with loads of car experience. if OP was so versed then OP would know that a bike makes much more noises than a car...so had you started up the bike you would've thought...oh it's not right...cause of all the clicks and this and that...cars don't have loud valve chatter like bikes commonly have, etc... so please...don't assume you know bikes just cause you know cars. thanks. completely true ive been working on cars my whole life and know them inside and out and even though i know alot about cars when it comes the bikes the parts are similar and i dont assume just cause u do something one way on a car that u do it the same way on a bike its a while different maching, i dont assume that i can fix planes when i can fix cars just because they both operate on the same basic principles but yea just had to respond cause i thought that was a good post. p.s. i was actually gonna post something about the valve chatter cause i can kinda hear something that sounds like valve noice but i couldnt tell if it was cause im just used to cars and now im basically sitting on the engine lol. so u pretty much answered my question without trying hey badaz...i'll rip right into my bike, and friends bike...but i'm sooo hesitant about ripping into my car...LOL... but the good thing about working on bikes is when you go back to working on cars...even from the most cramped areas, you're like "wow...so much room to work with"! worst part is if the car falls on you...it's a little worse than the bike...muhahahhaha

There is a reason it is called "popular advice." When my * Dad or *Uncle phone me, I answer "No, I haven't gone down yet!" I'm 6'/185lbs. and my 1000 is not too big and not too small. She's-a-just-a-right. Every mile has been a lesson, for life! *Both Original Gearheads from back in the day. Marlon Brando and James Dean.

Dude we didn't hold you down and make you throw the cash for a used 250cc. You're blaming us here for your mistake. Consulting a forum with experience in the subject is good but you don't HAVE to follow it. I started with a 600 way back..guess what, it was used too! Do you consult a forum every time you f*ck your girlfriend to see what position to do? So stop blaming us for your mishaps. Shit happens, man up and deal with it rather than crying to us and trying to make us sypathetic to your situation.

Man, I only made it through the first page... then saw there were 4 others - fawk that. Here's my .02; If you got the jack to spend on a brand new bike that you'll probably, at the least, drop - knock your friggin' socks off. If you got all this jack who the hell are we to tell you different. However, if you find yourself in the other 80% of the population, and will maybe get one brand new bike in your life - start off on a used bike. Small cc or not - buy used. Bottom line is, you will either; drop it in the driveway, drop it trying to do a slow speed turn, drop it because your pant leg gets caught on the peg at a stoplight or your simply wreck it. If nonr of these things happens to you ever... you're an anomoly and should have recognized your superior coolness in advance and disregarded, "all this advice about buying used." You think there, "all this advice" for no good reason? Get real.

This thread should be a sticky on how to piss people off and look foolish. Where is the original poster?

I bought a used 95 f3 for 3 grand, no probs good up keep. sorry to hear your the headaches you are having but I would have to say you got screwed buy the seller not bein honest, or just bad luck. Sh*t happens man I totally under stand. But I DISAGREE with buying a six thousand dollar training wheel as opposed to a used one for half. I was also told to buy a 250 cc bike 1st ---glad I didn't listen. My 600 is perfect. I haven't dropped it yet, and if i do ........i am human!!!! like I said, sh*t happens just learn from your mistakes. Your peeve makes it sound like you have respect for money, which is awesome , but on the other hand you are ready to fork out dough on a brand new one just for peace of mind. Let me tell you there are a lot of shady people in the world I would like to believe these people have nothing to gain buy telling you to buy a used bike I think this site is great personally, I am learning a lot so far because I don't have biker buddies and these people are genuinlely giving advice that they have learned from their mistakes or just the knowledge because it is their passion. I hope every thing pans out for you maybe you can get some one to fix it for cheaper but I don't think you should discourage a new rider or scare the daylights out of them from buying a used bike. just bring someone along with you that does know about bikes before you buy someone elses problem.. anyways.......... good luck
