Well I am in the process of purchasing my first bike...a CBR 600...there are a few I'm looking at but most of them are 2000s and 2002s...I have been riding my father's bike (a Norton Commander...1971...let me repeat...1971...oh yes...1971...lol) and a few friends' bikes (a 2002 CBR 600, a suzuki GSX-R 1000 and my best friend's big ass Busa) for the past few years and I'm ready for my own bike. I'm looking for any thoughts on customization for the CBR 600. I wanna make this thing my own, but I have noooo idea where to start. Any suggestions on exhaust, body mods, or anything at all would be helpful...thanks a lot!!!

I'm taking the rider safety test at the beginning of summer this year...I have my temp permit so I can ride but i'll be getting my full liscence after I take the test...do u mean what year 600 am I looking for? Cuz im looking for a 600 or higher anywhere from 2000-present...if that wasn't ur question then restate...

Yea, my bad. I think 600 F4's are 2000, F4i from 2001- 2006, and RR's from 03-Present. That will help you search a little. You'll be able to do more "customizations" to the F4i and RR but not that you cant do personalizations to F4's either, I just think you will come across parts easier for F4i's and RR's

Is there a price range?

trying to keep price of the bike under 6000...then I'll look into an aftermarket budget once i know what i have to work with...

Welcome and I have to agree the F4i and RR are the easiest to find parts to customize to your liking. If you are still looking (cycletrader.com) is a good place to find a bike. If you look hard and pay close attention you can run across some killer deals.

There are seat differences between years, Banana versus split, newer ones and much older ones are bananas, I think they changed in 2004. Most people like the looks of the split seats, I ride two up alot so I prefer the banana seat. For $6K you should be able to do just fine and have some left over for goodies.

1971? Cool. My girlfriend was made in 1971 and she is fun, maybe you should have your dad get a CBR and you take his Norten. Or maybe I should take his Norten and he can have my girlfriend. or maybe...

welcome and with $6K u should be able to get the bike u want and like most said parts will be easier to find for the f4i and rr
