Hi everyone.
I found a '93 Cbr 600 F2 with a '98 F3 engine.
The bike itself is totalled, the owner took a corner too fast and the whole front end is smashed.
I'm curious to know how much the F3 engines are worth with approx. 10k miles on them.
Also does the engine often suffer damage after collisions like these?
The guy says the oil pan has a hole in it, I'm afraid the crank bearings might have been damaged somehow or anything else for that matter.
I'm getting the whole bike for free, I just need to pick it up. I just want to make sure it's worth the 400km round trip to go get it.
I don't yet own a CBR nor have I ever owned one. Closest thing I've ever owned to one is a 1973 honda 70cc minitrail and a 1989 honda elite-r scooter lol. I don't yet have the type of money to afford the insurance/plates on one but hope to be able one day in the coming years.
This would be for a personal project.

Thanks guys/girls.

-Alex
from Canada by the way. eh.

I think a good engine goes for around $300-600 on eBay.  But you could probably part that bike out and make easily $1000.

If you like to spend time, parting the entire thing out on Ebay would be worth your time.  The small parts are always in demand if not trashed.

The engine value will vary based on in the bike ran after the oil pan hole and if there was oil starvation.  My brother had a violent wreck on a FZR and the engine was fine even though he blew a hole in the oil pan and all oil was gone in seconds.  Really depends.

Alright thanks for the reply guys, very helpful.

I'm now going to find out what it takes to bring it over the border to Canada.. since it's in the USA.
The fact that it's a '93 with a '98 engine might cause me some worries.. I wouldn't want to find out that the engine is stolen.

Ahh, I just called the registry for imported vehicules, God these guy's are nazi's! They want everything, especially my money.
There's an import fee of 222.22$.. guess they didn't wanna put 6's.
Then there's taxes for the actual price of the bike. I'm not sure if it's the price I would pay for or the price they'll value it at.
Either way, I now need the bikes Vin # and Serial #'s so they can verify that it's not stolen I'm guessing.

The guy is on a plane to Vermont from Germany too... gonna have to wait it out a bit.
Hopefully this will be a good deal, but I know from my experience that everything always goes from great deal.. to shittiest deal of the century pretty quick.

How much work does it take to replace the oil pan on the bike while the engine is in there? Is it even possible?
Is there even an oil pan? Or is it just the crankcase.
