Hi Guys, I just picked up my first bike -- 2000 CBR F4 (obviously). The bike is in great shape (<5k miles) and I want to keep it that way so I was looking into frame sliders. The only ones I have found for the F4 require the use of a hole saw in the fairing -- not exactly what I wanna do to my nice plastics.  A buddy of mine has an R6 though and got a frame slider kit that used a bracket to relocate the frame slider out of a cooling duct in the fairing. No holes to cut in the fairing at all. My question is, does anyone know of a kit for our bikes like this? I would like to know. If not, I might try producing my own.  Thanks.

Now i am gonna try to include some pics of my bike... here goes.

Have to cut them no getting around it. It is very easy to do there is a how to on here. And the no cut sliders are use less they are not strong enough. If you went down they would snap off and would not save your fairings at all.

Heard vortex are good. I dont know what mine are I got them from ebay, they look awesome. They are carbon fiber with metal on the ends, but if you do get some the metal ones I heard arent as good as the delrin ones because if you go down and slide the metal ones dont slow you down and the delrin ones do. Hope this helped.

I went with the vortex frame sliders, and yes you have to cut the fairing.  It  was not hard by it was worth it.  Here is a pic of the finished product.  Vortex are good, because you have an aluminum base and the puck then fits on to that.  So if you crash and smash up the puck, all you have to do is replace the puck.

I bought a set of "no-cut" sliders for my 99 f4.  EAsy to install and seem to be made out of good materials.  The set ran me about $50.

Where can you get these T-Rex sliders?

Search for them on ebay.  I see them all the time.  I went with the sliders that require you to cut.  I didnt like the flimsy looking bracket.  Im sure 400lbs of bike just falling on its side from a stop would bend that bracket enough to still scrape up the plastics.  Atleast that's my fear.

Has anyone actually gone down with the no cut t-rex sliders?

A friend of my dropped his bike on T-rex sliders with no damage.  I also had the same fear of the bracket bending under impact but these really are some heavy duty pieces of steel.  Hopefully I will never have to test them out

Hmm thats good to know.  I havent installed my regular sliders yet.  I wonder if I should buy a set of the T-rex sliders and save my fairings from the hole saw.

The other day I went down and there was no damage. I was doing stoppies for my photography project and came up way too high and paniced and I think I shifted my weight and came down sidways and fell over. One tiny surface scratch on the stator cover, but thats getting painted over the weekend.
