Aftermarket signals typically have two wires while OEM or original equipment is typically a three wire setup. You need to make sure you are using the right wires if that is you situation. running the current through the wrong wires can short the system and cause the named problems you mention. There is a nuetral wire, a constant power(typically a solid color) and a switched power(typically solid color with a line through it) in the OEM setup. This provides the signal on the switched wire and the running light on the solid wire and the neutral is just that, completes the curcuit. The constant power is the one you will not be using with aftermarket signals. This wire will be capped off and un-used from this point on. Make sure your wired right. Test with a tester or let me know the setup and I will find the right wiring diagram for you. PM me with what color your wires are and if it is two wires on your flush mounts and three on the bike.

OR...you've blown a fuse Phil Mickelson.  Open up the fuse box behind the left fairing and replace the 10A one for the instrument panel, you should a spare.
