I have followed all of the wiring diagrams from this page and I still can not get the Hotbodies front LED flush mounts and my Clear Alternatives integrated tail light blinkers to work together!!! I have tried everything and getting more frustrated every minute. I am using resistors on all lights, the resistors I'm using are 20 watt 5 ohms. I see on here that Bradfrd24 mentioned 20-25 watt, 8 ohm resistors, would using those solve my problem?

i want to do the same thing to the turn signal LED's in my passenger footpegs.  is there a running light wire in the rear to tap into? i believe the black/brown wire stays on all the time, whether the turn signals are on or not, since it powers the license plate light and taillight.  i don't really like the idea of having to run a wire from the front fairing to the passenger footpegs, so if there's another wire somewhere, tell me where it is!

and platinumrider - make sure the diodes aren't backwards.  i could be wrong, but i was under the impression that the diodes prevent current from flowing backwards, so if you installed them backwards, that will keep your blinkers from working.

Wow nice write up. Thanks for all the help guys. I had one question. Where do you wire the resistor to? Which wire to which.

You wire up the resistors to each power wire. You should need 4 resistors if I am reading that right. My question is about the diode is that a in5400 or 1n5400 and could I pick them up at my local radio shack

Radio Shack does have those diodes just ask for them. They are IN5400.

The confusion here is from the use of the word Resistor instead of Diode. - The 4 items needed are diodes. (All black with a Sliver ring on the load side)

If you find your blink rate too fast, you would run a resistor (2 required) from the each of the Solid color (Light Blue/Orange) wires to ground. OR just pick up one of the electronic LED Flashers listed on EBay and replace your factory one.

could someone explain better how this actually works? i know how to do it, but it seems like the light would just stay on all the time since its constantly getting a +12v from the running lights....... anyone know why the +12v from the turn signal lead makes the light turn off? thanks.

Thats funny, cause you said exactly same thing as i did

haha i completely skipped over your post and didnt even see that you had that same question.

i guess its an electrical mystery that no one knows the answer to...

not resisters....... IN5400 DIODES fairly cheap at radio shack.... make sure to put the silver band of the DIODE closest to the flush mount. they allow power only to run one way so if you got it backwards you will not get power.

If I follow those guides and use normal turn signals instead of LEDs.  Would I need the resistors/regulators?  Because I'm getting flushmounts but the bulb instead of LEDs.  I just can't seem to find 3 wires signals so I was going to use this guide but without the regulators since I won't have LEDs.

should work just putting like I said Diodes in they will run the power one way and not allow feedback to the blinkers or runners
1 in line on each POS + wire going to flush mount with like I said silver band facing the flush mount

i have slight another idea, what if we install something like a zener 5-6v diode or a resistor on the running lights before the regular diode.it should act like this : the running light would be dimmer and when you enable the turn signal, it would light up full power. otherwise  the running light could be mistaken for turn signal. or is the running light power less than 12v?

I have a question. The diodes are just if you doont like the fast blink rate correct? I like my blink rate, would just be nice to have side markers.

I believe the diode prevents power from the running lights feeding back to the rear blinker when the blinker is turned off. - It should not affect the blink rate.

Adding resistors increases the load on the circuit and basically tricks the flasher into thinking a regular bulb is at the other end.

why are you guys putting diodes on LEDs.  Do any of you know what LED stands for?  Light Emitting Diodes.  Seems a bit redundant.

Edit:  I'm retarted.  I didn't look at the setup close enough.  This is correct, when going from 3 to 2 wires it is essential to use diodes or the circuit will loop.
