Ok, I just saw some sick shit today. My boy went down while riding on the Southern state. For those of you who live in New York, yall know how that is with the traffic. Anyway, he went down and stuff and ended up with a broken ankle. Bone sticking out and everything. Now, I'm looking for a pair of boots that only allow up and down movement of the feet so if i ever go down and slide into the wall, my foot won't bend side ways. I don't mind the full race boot. I actually would prefer that. I just want something with the most ankle support. thanks in advance for the replies.

SIDI boots are it.   they are a little pricey, but its what the pro's wear.  take a close look in all the pictures in bike mags, and at the races, the vast majority wear SIDI.
I bought a pair, love em.   most people also say they are the most comfortable.  You will find others, from very cheap to very expensive.  but, if  you want quality
and peace of mind, SIDI boots get my vote

+1 for Sidi
but if you are on the budget, consider Setup's Vision boots. Setup is the secondary brand of Sidi. Affordable and good quality.

I have Sidis and love them. Puma recently released the '1000' boot, which seems to have great
ankle and shin protection, but can't speak for their comfort.

Don't really trust those Pumas...I'm used to them making regular walking shoes. It's just weird ya know? I'd rather let somebody else be the guinea pig and tell me how safe it is.

Sidi is it... I have a pair, and wear them everywhere, I honestly wouldn't dare go more than a mile without them. You feel totally naked without them. You don't need to get the super ricer boots, they're cool looking and all, but way $$$$$$$$$$$ they make some more reasonably priced ones which do just fine for protection without the bling... I would probably spring for the rocket pad boots next time though.

Anybody have any thoughts on the Setup Vision boots?  I'm on more of a budget and think that the Setup's would work fine for me.

I wrote my review with the Set-Up Vision boots, in this same section. Check it out, and I think it's a great boot for the money. More of a sport riding, occassional track boot

i agree with fret on this one. plus you can wear em with your jeans over it and walk around all day w/o your feet hurting.

I have Dainese, Oxtar, XPD and Alpinestars boots.  The A-stars Supertechs are the most comfortable for an all day ride.
Check out one of the gear closets.
