I got my 06' 1kRR about three weeks ago and have been working in my spare evenings doing some mods on it. I really wanted to change it from a black and gray/silver paint scheme to black and red.

What I've done:
  • Painted the mesh behind the seat cowl and the rear plastic fairing; changed it from gray to red
  • Removed all factory gray/silver decals, along with all the normal bs ones, and replaced select ones with red reflective decals
  • Painted the Honda logo on the motor cover red along with the Motivation logo on the frame sliders
  • Proton flush mount front turn signals painted a clear-red
  • Flapper mod
  • Pitbull spools/swing arm sliders
  • Motivation no-cut frame sliders
  • Competition werkes fender elim (painted black) and rear turn signals (also painted clear-red)
  • Puig windscreen
  • BMC race filter
  • Tapeworks rim tape
  • Removed passenger pegs, rear-sets, and heat shield and painted them black. (hopefully will powder-coat the parts and the swing-arm this winter)

Here are some before and after pictures:

After:

This is the most I've done to any of my bikes and I've had a great time doing all the work myself. Comments are welcome.

Enjoy!

Looks good.
Can you post a closer pic of your rear blinkers? They look pretty neat!

Great looking 1000, just curious what type of paint did you use for your rear set footpegs, thanks.

looks great, hey i'm trying to find frame sliders that don't require any mods to the fairing, what kind are those on your bike?

oldguy61, yes, the frame sliders are Motovation. I wanted a no-cut slider and had bought some Shogun but read some reports about how they could crack the water elbow so returned them. The Motovations bolt on in 3 places on the left side over the water elbow, instead of 1 bolt on the Shoguns, and seem very secure.

All I did for the rear sets and foot pegs was get some high temp grill paint, spray a few coats, and then bake them in the oven. It's a cheap alternative until this winter when I'll get them all powder-coated along with the swing arm.

I'll post some close up pics of the rear turn signals later today.

Thanks for all the feedback!
