I just changed everything to State Farm, = car and 2006 1krr
Progressive wanted $1500/year full coverage for my bike with $1000 deductible
State farm $330/ year with only $100 deductible.
i am 25 m from maine, single with 1 at fault and 1 ticket on my record at the moment
The reason for the big difference progressive told me they don't have an age milestone of 25 ( they said it is unfair for people who are almost 25). State farm was the exact same price until i told her i was 25, then her quote dropped $1100 dollars, so turning 25 helps depending on the company your going through. fi you have arelatively clear record you are better off going with a "smaller" company. Progressive takes on any type of driver (good or bad) and has a baseline minimum to level the cost out. But a smaller company won't even consider most of the drivers Progressive and geico take on. Thats why they have so much lower rates because they don't take on HIGH RISk clients. So they arn't paying out like progressive has too.

Man I am 10 years older, married with a kid, and a perfect driving record. Still $100 more than you with $500 deductables. I don't understand how areas can be so different....

Yeah the area in which you lives plays a huge part into the price, i moved to the next town over (8 miles from my old apt) and my car went up $350 a year just for living in a different town. It sucks but i have looked into it and there isn't much you can do unless you have something to call a permanent address in a cheaper town, a relative or something. The closer you are to a city and the size of the city. These insurance companies look at all the stats, so if you live in an area in which you can ride 12 moths of the year the number of accidents per year will be higher so your rates will reflect that.

Just a hunch. but ibet if you lived in Daytona, you would have a fairly high rate. 12 months of riding and a big city, and a bike week, I am sure there are alot of accident in the course of year and i bet the rates would be high.

No, my profile has not been updated. We moved from florida to michigan, and I live outside a small town of 500 in the middle of nowhere now. Oh well. Still happy with it. It's the lowest price I have ever had.

Bike only $1400 and change for the year (200 and change to start up and then $111.00 a month) 30 yrs old, single, live in Florida no tickets or accidents in last 3 yrs- live btwn WPB and Ft Lauderdale. 10/20/10 with comprehensive w/ $5,000.00 in mods covered on top of the bike- should it be stolen - vandalized - or hurricaned up. $500.00 detuctable. I rejected the unisured motorist. Kinda pricy but, peace of mind
