you know i kinda find that hard to believe as they still haven't abandoned their marketing ploy: making value gear that is made to "look good" to novice riders. There is a reason why all normal bike shops you walk into carry plethora of icon and rocket gear with little to no real gear like agv, a*, teknic, dainese, etc. Icon/Rocket has the curb appeal to every noob casue it looks "cool" and like a "race gear".
as for what i wear:

Rocket Reactor Mesh jacket
Teknic Thunder Leather pants
AGV Sealth gloves
AGV Sebring boots #1
A* S-MX boots #2
Extra Teknic back,shoulder,elbow, knee and hip armor.

Icon isn't the greatest gear in the world, but it's good for people who can't really afford the best of the best. Joe Rocket is good stuff and it also appeals to those who don't have a big budget to work with. I wear both, and though Icon isn't great, it is a lot better than nothing. I've had some problems with my barrier jeans' zipper coming apart but I've got a sewing kit so I fixed it. If I could afford better gear, there is no doubt that I would buy it.

Oxtar Jupiter boots, jeans, Shoei RF800 (It fits. My HJC AC12 is too big now so it is all I have), mesh gloves, Tour Master Saber jacket, or Alpine Star ACR flo mesh jacket.
Had a set of Draggin jeans but out grew them. They were incredibly hot and heavy though.

No agruement here on that, tho I have 2 JR jackets n their protection is good. I also have a Teknic jacket. I just heard icon was shyt b4 but has up'd thier protection to go with the bling bling looks they do lol. But the only icon gear I own is a pair of super duty gloves I rarely wear since I got my Teknic lightnings, but they are a good short glove, just a lil tight on my hands lol. But I know what you are saying.
Ahh Question where/what kind of hip armor did you get for your teknic pants? I have the chicanes, and they didnt come with hip pads.
