If I were to buy this dvolt gel battery, when I receive it, could I be able to install it immediately? Or would I have to buy a battery charger and charge the battery first? I wish I could find a local retailer.

Is that only for this particular battery but i know some bike stores have either or charged or not charged and most of the time they are out of the charged ones.

OEM batteries are fine- a gel battery isn't going to make you faster, lol.

Seems like people with battery problems are missing the point......everyone should have or invest in a battery tender.

never had a battery problem before. the other day i accidentally left my key on for a few minutes while i ran inside to take care of some reading and when i came out the bike would barely turn over. it was 93-95F and i had been riding around slowly at low revs to scrub in my new rear tire. i ended up push starting the bike before the battery was completely dead. rode around at high revs for a while and now she starts just fine. i guess my stator wasn't charging my battery at those low revs and leavin the key on didn't help matters

how often should you use the battery tender? because the previous owner said he put a new battery in my bike before I bought it, but the battery has been nothing but problems for me. When I would leave the bike "on", but the engine off for about 10 seconds, I would have to push or jump start the bike because there wouldn't be enough juice left in the battery.

That doesn't sound like a battery problem.  Could be either a charging problem or you have something else draining the electrical system.  Most cases the culprit is an idle that's set too low.
