Life = 600
Life a lot faster for a little less time = 1000

This pretty much sums up my opinion.  I have an 2006 600rr that I've grown very attached too and comfortable on.  I like that I can thrash on it a bit and, as long as I dont get stupid, it wont bite me in the ass. Last year I tried my buddy's 1000rr and I was blown away by it. Granted, my 600rr is fast, but at times i can feel it having to work, carrying my 230lbs all over the place. On my friend's bike it felt like I strapped myself onto a rocket.  I know that if I had the money I'd kit the 600 as a track bike and ride the 1000 for the street and long trips. I honestly feel I'd have a hard time really wanting to ride my 600 as much because the 1000's power is so addicting.  I think I have exceptional self-control but, for me, owning a 1000 is like having a pile of high-grade pharmaceutical heroin next to you and trying to not have a little taste. Way too tempting. Throw in the fact that I have a little girl due in October and that makes my think it'd be best to stay with the 600. :(

Well im pretty new to this forum, but a 20 year rider, and pretty much a honda junkie.  I took a 5 year break after a buddy died, but then slowly got to bug again.  I got back into bikes on a sumo crf 450 so my view may be a bit twisted, with respect to 600 vs 1k

2 months ago i got tired of dw nagging that she couldnt go on the back of the crf, so the quest started.  I tried a rc51(smooth as silk but to much $$ and didnt like the seating position),  a 929( what a fun little bike and way more comfortable then it looked).  Then I was sent out on and f4i, i think it was an 04, and it hadnt been registered since then.  Price was right, but probably the dealer should have serviced it, or maybe new gas because it seemed to stumble alot.  Since all these bikes were at the yammy dealer, I also tried the new r1.  It seemed like a great bike, and my first impression was,  damn this is scary fast, to the point it was busy at high speed although it really handled it well. I was on it for at least a couple hours, and really liked it.  I then went to the honda dealership to look at their offerings.  They had an 07 600rr demo and i took if for a couple hour ride.
My impressions of the 600rr were it was a great bike,  really comfortable for me,  it handled like a dream in the corners, which was what i really enjoy.  Also as you passed 8g on the tach, it was fast as f**k pulling really hard right to redline.  The only real dissappointment came with its torque down low.  I also intend to ride alot 2 up, and with this bike, you always had to be down a couple gears, or you would be jamming a couple gears every time you wanted to pass something.  I was very prepared to deal with that part of the bike, and started negotiations with the dealer.  (they didnt have a 1k demo).  I still kept my eye out for other bikes, and the day before i was supposed to pick up my new 6rr an 06 1krr popped up, and for a rediculously low amount, so i had to go see it.  i went up and took it for a spin, and within 10 minutes knew that i had found the bike for me.  color black, my favorite because of my first new bike, 97 hurricaine 600, power was everywhere, even when tooling around town in 6th, just a roll of the throttle and you were gone, and there was no apparent lack of handling.  It may not have been quite as nimble as the 600,  I would have to retry the 6rr again to know, but it would link turns effortlessly almost as if it would rather be turning, then driving straight.  Also It was alot less busy feeling at speed then the r1
I have now had it for just over a week, and 2500k,  it is a joy to drive because the roll on power is there when all my buddies and dropping gears to get around cars.  it is extremely comfortable, even when riding 2 up(well over 1/2 of those k's) and one of the biggest factors im now noticing is when all my buddies on 600's are out on a long run they are burning 1/4 more fuel then i am.  If you are joe racer, and needs every bit of corner speed available, im sure the 6rr is the bike for you, but if you want the swiss army, do it all extremely well bike, and im sure you will enjoy the 1k more in the end

not much experience with bikes. but i agree with the crowd. the 600rr owns the turns, but in straight ways, the 1000rr owns. better handling in 600rr. plus, if you want to do stunts, the 600rr is better, cuz it much lighter than 1000rr. powerwise, the 600rr is enough. if your looking for the speed and not for the stunts, go with the 1000rr.

Dood!  Buy the 600, do some track days and smoke your liter-bike friends on the corners!  They can have 180hp but won't be able to keep up!!

Anyone can twist the throttle and go fast in a straight line, corners is another thing altogether!

Hello there guys !!!
My name is Andrei and I am thinking of buying an 07 CBR 1000RR Repsol edition.
The guys at the local dealership told me that the best price they can give me is $13.500 OTD.
And that is because is a limited edition an only a small number of them have been built.
Did any of you buy recently an 07repsol 1000 ? If yes, can you tell me what you paid for it?
And if not, do you have any idea what the price is on this nice toys, cause I think I am being ripped off.
Thank you much for your time guys and I really apreciate your help with this matter.

I don't know about heavier to throw around.

The 1000RR is 388 lbs dry. The 600 rr is 345 lbs and the 600F4i is 370lbs.

I don't think it is a porker at all.

I would think that since you are thinking about getting a 1000RR STRICTLY because you want to beat your friends' 600's, pop wheelies and to screw around on......you would get into FAR more trouble (not to mention crashes) than if you went with a 600. 1000's (as you probably already know) aren't nearly as forgiving as 600's, and they're even twitchy when you get real hard on them.
