Just recently I went for a highway trip for about an hour and a half. I ran it mostly at 70-75, the whole way. When I signaled for the exit, I noticed that it was struggling to turn on. Of course, I had to have had my high beam on, draining the battery more. Then off the highway, the needles started to bounce, and the bike ran sputtery, than died at a light. A friend took it to his local bike shop for diagnosis. I had thought it might be the stator, or more likely the regulator. However, he was told that it was common for the fuel pumps, at high speeds, to draw higher currents than the alternator can put out, therefore draining the battery. He claimed there was no aftermarket fix or new pump, without this problem. He recharged the battery, drove it for a day, and said it was OK. Any Ideas? It makes sense, but I was looking for a second opinion.
