hey whats up, im new here.. and yesterday i just bought an '04 CBR600RR from a dealership here in indiana.  its stock. but n e way. when i got it home i noticed that it was running really rich. when i rev it up it puffs black smoke. and when i decelerate it backfires, and at low rpms it kind of surges... so i kno its running wayyy too rich..  i drove it to work tonight, started it up a couple of times for some people, (i was excited about it, it being my first bike) and about 2 hours later when i got off work, it wouldnt start at all. i ran the battery down trying to start it. i think i fouled plugs but what do you guys think. what would cause a fuel injected bike to run that rich. and should the dealership fix it because they told me that it ran fine, and 2 of their mechanics did too and ive only had it 1 day. even though its a used bike, if they are a decent buisness, they should at least set me straight. especially on a bike with 4700 miles and 3 years old...  please help.. i wanna ride this weekend but...it doesnt look good

not sure about it running rich but it wouldnt start because you started a couple times for your friends and didnt actually ride it. That happened to my buddies GSXR, change the plugs and it should start up. Good luck

The wrong spark plugs can cause this.

imma give them a chance to fix it. this bike looks brand new...hardly a scratch on it, and its my favorite color.. :)  i called them, i gotta call them back, they salesman was like, "i perfectly understand" cause i was like, i didnt spend 7200 bucks to put anohter 400 in it just to ride it, being an 04 it should run perfectly...
