I decided to make my own seat cowl.  I first got a used seat and covered it with saran wrap.  I put the first layer on and once it had dried on the top I flipped it over and did the bottom.  I let that dry then had to wait a couple of days due to work.  Yesterday was nice and sunny so I added a few more layers and let it harden.  Once hard it slipped off and the seat looks fine.  I have trimmed it a little, but need a new dremil disk to finish.  I am going to add a speed hump so that will be todays project.  Iwill then add a few more layers of fiberglass and sand it, then off for paint.  Here are a couple of pics so far.  Tell me what you think.

Looks like it will be sweet. Looking forward to seeing the final product. If it turns out well would you want to do a How-To write up?

Thanks fellas.  I have trimmed it down so the seat clips on no problem.  I am in the process of making the speed hump.  I just have to wait for another sunny day to add the next few layers of fiberglass.

Well it is still a work in progress, but it is coming along nicely.  I have to add a few more layers of fiberglass, then glass bondo and sanding so it should be completed next week.

Looks like it will turn out real nice, but I second the question of "How is it held on?"
Also, quick question, what windscreen is that on your bike? It looks really nice, any problems with it?

The screen is a Zero Gravity double bubble.  It came with the bike and I love it.  It gives you that little added wind protection when your tucked under.
As for the seat cowl, right now it is fairly tight on the seat.  The fiberglass is rolled under the seat a little and I will be drilling a hole and putting a small screw into the seat to secure it.  As soon as I have it done I will post a couple more pics.

That's a sweet idea for a cowl.  Can't wait to see the finished pics. I might try somethin like that with mine, but I did the 00/01 tail swap.  Quick question..what kind of flush mounts are they on the front?  They look pretty sweet.  I am lookin to put some on mine, but haven't really gotten a chance to see whats out there.  Good luck with the cowl.  If anyone wants to know how to do a tail swap..I just finished mine up with an undertail also. So let me know if you need directions!

CWMC, i went to that site and was this [---] close to ordering the flush mounts, but for the F4 they required splicing?... What the hell does that mean and was it difficult?  Is it because we have the daytime running lights?  Did you worry about this or just plugged them in and decided to screw the daytime lights?
