This isn't a mod question but I didn't see a good fit on any forum for this question.

I currently have an 89 F1 which I like, but I could use something newer.  I like the fact that it is a sporty bike but still has a somewhat conventional seating position.  Somewhere along the lines the seating position started to get more radical on the CBR600 line, was that the F2/F3 or F4 or a little at a time?

Thanks in advance.

My '94 F2 has what I think you would call a conventional seat...at least one where the passenger has something somewhat flat to sit on and is on the same seat as the driver...

Thanks for the input but I'm thinking more along the lines of body positioning.  The RR models and an RC51 for example have very different ergonomics from an F1.  Was an F2/F3 much different than an F1?  Was the F4 or F4i much different than the F2/F3?  Was the transition gradual to the RR or was the RR the big departure?

The only true seating position that changed on the F series drastically was the F4 to F4i when they split the seats.

Not trying to beat a dead horse to death but I want to make sure everyone is talking about the same thing.  What you guys are saying is that the F4 would be pretty much the same upright position a F1 would have.  No leaning over with your feet up your @$$ and constantly reminding you of unpleasant things like past knee surgeries and wrist damage like a RR or RC51 would do on a long trip.

You can achieve the racier position of the RC and RR with some mods to the tail section, seat, fairing, rearsets, and clip-on bars.

You are correct in that the banana seat went away with the F4...

I'm doing some rearsets and seat mods...maybe some clip-ons down the road...

I too like a racier position...it's actually more comfortable for me.

If you are going to lean over...might as well go all the way.

The halfway treatment between track and street of the F1, F2, and F3 series feels....wrong...to me anyway...
