Hye guys, I just finally got my hands on my dream bike, a 1989 CBR 600F Hurricane. I love the damned thing, everything is godd except that the idle point for the engine I think is too low, it hovers just bellow 1000 rpm, so it sometimes stalls. Any way I can quickly adjust it up so it stays just about 1000 maybe 1100 rpm or so, without having the remove all the fairings? Let me know guys, and thanx in advance. Alex aka Eclipse

My F3 has an idle adjustment knob [ I wrote, "knob" ! ] on left side poking [ I wrote "poking" ! ] through the fairing, maybe not for yours. Hey, did you post on the T.O. forum?

I have a 89 hurricane as well, it seems you may have a inherent problem, as mine does the same thing. What I did was tighten the adjuting knob, then set the idle to approx 12.000 rpm and it seems to hold steady.According to the mauel (I have one) it should idle around 12 to 13.BTW I love this bike as well, needs new fairings but goes like spit.

What would happen performance wise, if the idle was too high?

remove left side access cover (the small one). get flashlight and look behind carbs for a knob attached to a rubber hose. it should be protruding from the middle set of carbs. this is your idle adjustment. start bike and let warm. or if starting to stumble, adjust idle till tach sees 1200-1400 rpm. let bike continue to warm up and then adjust accordingly. i have a wire hook made from a coathanger that i use to keep the idle screw captive close to the access panel that way should i feel the need to make adjustments i do not have to hunt for the adjuster. this will save you time and some skin. michigan_313
