Hello folks, maybe someone can help he here.  Last year I decided to modify my 1999 F4 to look like a 2001 F4i.  I have the back seat perfect and the front was perfect looking to.  However, when I tried to drive the bike, it now starts to sputter after I reach 45 mph.  And I will barely let me go any fast with out sputtering very bad.  I check all my valves, rings, fuel pump, filter and everything I could think of.  Then finally I took it to a guy who works on bikes.  I informed him of my upgrade to the F4 and then he said did I keep the same speedometer.  I asked why, and he said because the gauges and everything connect up with the bikes computer.  Shit!, it did not dawn on me.  But every since I put that front piece on with the F4i speedo, it has not ran correctly.  Does anyone have any suggestion or a wiring map so that I can make sure that all wires were connected properly.  I am ready to ride.

You can do two things, 1 You can cut the plastic casing of you F4 meter down to fit inside the new fairings 2 get the wire schmetics
for both bikes and try to match each wire correctly.

I had the same thing happen when  i converted to the f4i gauges. There was wire that i had to ground to get the bike to run. The f4i gauges did not have this wire coming out of the harness that the f4 did. Let me see if i can find the schematic and i'll let you know.

Thanks fellas. If you find out the wiring scheme for the front gauges, let me know.  I have not rode my bike in a year because I have been trying to figure this out.
