that any bike as long as you understand and can really emphasize good throttle control. I agree...however to consistantly have the restraint and self control to not get yourself in trouble is another story. That is the question you need to ask yourself. If you can be rock steady for a few months, then gradually expand your riding then go for it. If you are a maniac like I was, then you may want to start smaller. quote:
I think I am going to either go for the 600rr if I am really confident or I am looking at the FZR yamaha 2007. Does anyone have any opinions on that bike? Get a Honda...always. Think about a used one too, not so much for the money, but the first dumb 'drop' won't drive you as crazy. Good luck and enjoy the class...keep us posted.

At least in my class, you were not in trouble for dropping the bike, which one guy did rather impressively during the braking practice. The only time it was a problem was during the riding portion of the test. If you did it then, you failed.

I had about 12 people in my class, and I think two failed. One lady was just hopeless. I think the other guy failed because of nerves. He did well during the whole class, but messed up the riding test. If you fail, you will feel like this:

As others have said the MSF course is pretty easy, if you survive the first day of riding, you'll probably be fine. As for first bike... I would strongly recommend not getting a new bike, get an early F4i at the latest, the F4s are nice because the part you're most likely to mess up (fairings) are so ridiculously abundant. However, if you're 16, and you were looking at a new bike anyway, it's likely your parents are loaded and fronting the bill, in which case go to a dealer after completeing the course, and have a good long sit on the bikes there, find one you're comfortable on, and get that one.
