I didn't even think that would be possible?! lol.  So is it difficult if you have never ridden?  I would think its easier as you may not have bad habits established.  What are some reasons people fail?  Someone said if you drop the bike you are out? That doesn't seem to make sense wtf do they expect from people who never rode.  Yea I guess I am nervous. I haven't ridden before and I start my msf class tomorrow!

also if there are any oakland county michigan riders that could PM me that would be great. If I do well with the MSF course I may want someone to meet me at the dealership to help me pick out a bike and possibly ride with me for a bit. thanks.

just relax, and learn.  even if you do drop the bike. dont worry about it.  you may be embaressed for a few minutes, but everybody does it... eventually.  You will feel alot better after doing it, and see that its not the end of your riding career.  plus its not your bike, be glad you dropped thier bike and not your own.

yeah I guess I am just so psyched to be taking this course. I have so many initial fears that they are getting to me. For example everyone expects to crash and that scares the crap out of me! I mean wtf.  I obviously haven't ridden and had that 'high' yet so I just dont understand.  For me right now it is just crazy scary and I have done some scary crap in my day with boxing and what not.  Hopefully I will look back on these initial threads and laugh.  I have all my gear bought, the class starts tomorrow and I feel like I am off to a good start. I just want to learn, do well and get a good bike.  Again, if any michigan riders are out there feel free to PM me and you can probably help me be a better rider. I may need assistance at metro motorsports in pontiac. peace.

Not everyone expects to crash. You don't have to lay the bike down either.

Only one person in my class failed.

A friend took the class (female).  The class was held in a parking lot... she took the bike over the island seperating the parking lot from the street - this was not a part of the class.  They told her that has happened before and is usually immediate failure, but she was the only one to do that and not drop the bike.  They let her stay in the class and she graduated.  She got her own bike and I rode with her several times, once from St. Louis to KC and she did pretty darn good.

Another buddy of mine took the MSF and an older lady dumped the clutch and ran into another rider on the first day of field class - she was asked not to come back.

So it's possible to fail, but I think you would have to do something fairly substantial to not pass.

there was one chick in my class that failed, but that was because she knew everything already and wouldn't listen to what the instructors were telling her. just pay attention and listen and you'll be fine. have fun man.

You will do fine man. Tomorrow you won't be riding you will do a class room session I think it was like 3 hours long. You will be reading manuals about riding/safty and watch some video's. At the end of the class everyone will be taking a written test it's a pass or fail. So pay extra attention in class. If for some reason you do fail the written test I believe sometimes depend on how your instructor's mood they will let you retake the written test over again on your riding course day. Good luck man I am sure you will be fine.

Yea the classs is real easy if you pay attention and listen to them.  Everyone passed in my class including a 14 year old girl and a 50 year old woman.  No experience either of them.  Youll do fine.  have fun

Of the 11 in my class 3 failed.

They were older people 60+, and for the most part couldn't figure out the clutch or were really to sickly looking to be in a hot parking lot all day long.

Well the first day is over and I have positive impressions.  These guys each have been riding 30 years and it is a private company. Each guy used to teach the MSF at the universities and colleges where there were 50-140 people.  THis is a more intimate approach.  However when I mentioned which are good bikes to start on they ALL had the philosophy that any bike as long as you understand and can really emphasize good throttle control.  I don't know about that!  But if the next two days of riding go well (still haven't been on the bike) I think I am going to either go for the 600rr if I am really confident or I am looking at the FZR yamaha 2007.  Does anyone have any opinions on that bike?  Its slower and the riding position is higher and I know it would be a better learner.  THe only thing is I feel that is like saying "would you have a 16 year old on a viper (fast) or a enzo (faster)....both are lethal. lol.
