exhaust

joey954rr -> exhaust (4/27/2007 10:52:38 PM)

on a 954 you have 2 dampners..one on the airbox and one on the exhaust..if you eliminate both dampners and put a power comand on the bike you will have to gear up just to keep the bike from pulling up in the first four gears and that will put your top speed over 200mph...i have built a custom air box but not sure how to approach the exhaust without having to buy a full exhaust i just need a replacement part for the dampner that eliminates the gate...please let me know if you know were i can pick one up..i will be in the shop trying to fab my own i guess...sure would rather buy one...

first four gears.... right 200mph... what planet u on

joey954rr -> RE: exhaust (4/27/2007 11:11:41 PM)

the only reason i bought this bike is because a friend has one that i watched him buy the bike all stock...we picked it up and went straight to a bike shop were he put a 2 brothers pipe on it , custom air box w/ram air and a power comand...he road it for 3 days and took it back..went one tooth up in the front and one down in the back.which kept wim from pulling up,except in first...that is the only reason i am doing this project...

i ment 2 teeth down in the back

bobjoezx -> RE: exhaust (4/28/2007 9:26:53 AM)

who tuned the bike because power commander is nothing without proper tuning...... also did u recalibrate speedo...

joey954rr -> RE: exhaust (4/29/2007 11:29:55 PM)

friend of mine owns a bike shop...the results were tested on a dyno...i  went ahead and bought a full exhaust...so i will find out soon enough what my bike will do...and i will post dyno results...

I wont say its impossible without major modifications, the sprocket change with 17 front and 41 rear would make it more possible. the bike would be horrible as far as sluggish taking off. the only thing i can say is wit the sprocket change is the speedo will be off but also you have to have a stong enough engine to push the sprocket change which is not to rediculous. worth tryin, but i do believe wit the modifications he has will push it above 180 maybe 185.

outsider8 -> RE: exhaust (4/30/2007 8:21:06 PM)

my bike has 40/17 gearing-open exhaust with slotted cam sprockets-degreed in(timing retarded
as far as posible,w/out risk of engine damage!)i have not seen a need for a pc3 at the current
time-but a need for a ignition module-slow speeds?-engine chuggs bad on decel(from high rpms)
with the gearing and the power band set all the way up-the front end stays down-if it does come up
(and it does)shift gears(power wheelies are harder to do!)-5th gear redline shows approx
175-180-then shift to 6th-at full redline maybe 195-at 185 about 2k rpms to go,but the torque
curve is gone,i must remind you most of the mods have gone into suspension-a stock 954
is not safe at these speeds!!
the gearing set-up that i use/like-makes for pleasant riding with out loss of performance(just
comes alive at higher speeds)-here is a picture of my bike at the current time
just be safe with what ever you do

It takes some MAJOR hp to do a real 200mph on a motorcycle. Unless you're building a streamliner than you would probably need at least 200hp. Just before the 800cc limit on MotoGP bikesin '07, the 1000's were barely hitting 200mph on the fastest tracks. Those bikes were factory machines pushing +240hp......and they easily cost more than 100K to build.

freemanmj -> RE: exhaust (4/30/2007 11:36:43 PM)

200 mph on a 954.  Don't thinks so.  It takes serious hp to break the magical 200.  For example, to get a Busa to hit 200 (GPS verified versus speedo indated which would be off by at least 10 mph) takes at least 100 extra HP.  Wind resistance increases exponentially which why it takes all that extra HP to gain that last 10-12 mph to join the 200 club.

bobjoezx -> RE: exhaust (5/1/2007 9:45:10 AM)

your forgeting tho guys.. he has that magic air box....... ya.. right! just because u change your sprockets so the speedo is off and it shows 200MPH .. doens't mean you really did 200.. sorry

joey954rr -> RE: exhaust (5/2/2007 11:31:12 PM)

ok guys i got some good and bad comments behind this...the bike that is topping 200mph is a friends and after reading your remarks i was secound guessing the bikes potential but i called my friend and we went to a 15 mile stretch of road across the ferry in galveston...anyone from the area will know what im talking about...and i went about 10 miles down the road with a radar gun and i clocked him at 204...he told me to gear my bike up, get a two bros. full exahust, get a custom air box, and a power command. he did tell me that the bike realy needs to be lowered 2-3 in. to help on stability and make sure i have a stering dampner...i hope i am not going to be dissapointed..i have spent about 4k on this project so i will try to get some pics for you guys...
ps we do not use speedo's we always use a radar gun...pls keep posting all comments are welcome

joey954rr -> RE: exhaust (5/2/2007 11:32:40 PM)

oh yea...i never said i did 200 mph...just would like to say i did...
