This seat cowl thing...it's just not gonna work right...not as well as I want it to.

Airtech stuff...is OUT....

Sharkskins come highly recommended...

But which one...?

I like the race tail...but...it has some kind of funky looking bracket set-up...that looks like more trouble.

I want to paint...bolt...and go....

That's the one that is probably the coolest one...but...the brackets...

That bracket is there to support you body weight because the tail uses a small pad. I have on my bike the 97-98 solo street tail. It uses the stock seat and it looks great.

I'll probably get the street solo tail, since I do more street than track..

I know I am sick of looking and dicking around with this air-tech cowl POS..

I would definately go with the rvf tail. It uses the stock seat and looks way better than the others. Don't be scared of the brackets. So what if it took you a couple of hours, it would be worth it.
just my opinion.  oh yeah, my opinion is the only one that counts.

I don't mind fitting something....just don't want to spend hours trying to correct a company's  lack of  QA...

You know what I mean....

Yeah...I'm going with the RVF tail

the way I understand it is you only need the brackets for the "race" tail. You would also need foam pad for it. If I remember right that is what you wanted to do in the past. If you go with the "street" tail it will keep the stock seat so there is no need for the brackets. One thing you might want to check on is tail lights. At worst, you could do a custom tail light.

Yeah...I definitely can rig some kind of tail light...and the FE kit I already have...

Plus...I do want to go with the foam pad....no cover...

I noticed you slide around too much on a covered seat...

OIC...well...they are pretty similar...looks wise...

I'm gonna get the one for the F2...wire in a tail light...probably do the dual round tail-light thing....

I ordered the seat bracket, the 97/98 f3 race tail, and the 3/4 inch seat foam all from sharkskinz about a week ago.  As soon as I get it i'll take pictures.  I may do a tail install guide if you guys like.  I plan on doing a factory tail light (97, 98) unless I find something better.  The bike is going to be street legal.

If anyone is gonna do the same be warned.. the shipping costs was like 40 bucks!

btw.. my bike is a 96.  but I ordered a cheetah 97/98 street upper fairings and and street lowers.  presto new looking bike..(i wish it was that easy)
