1 week ago it was nice for like an hour in boston. took my bike out. Cold tires, all hyped up from not riding in a week, took the first corner a little fast and the fron tire slipped on the cross walk paint. Caught again on the asphault then slipped some more on the next line. I gassed it and stupidly put my foot down to prevent from falling and luckily was going slow enough that I didn't fall...
BUT my first bike, Yamaha FZR-600... was in my college parking lot in Ohio trying to get used to riding (you know clutch, gas, break lever positions) got a nervous when I wasn't turning fast enough and heading towards a curb... panicked when I pulled the clutch lever and the bike didn't slow, realized my mistake... i think you'll all see where this is going... let go of the clutch and yanked the front brake lever (and by yanking the clutch gave it a litte gas too) and shot forward about 4 feet and then did my first stoppie and fell to the right side of the bike. Farring, mirror, engine, wrist and leg rash.

My college friends watched the entire episode from a safe 10 feet away and were laughing so hard they couldn't even come over to pull the bike off of me.

the most embarrasing story for me was at deal's gap last october with about 8 guys. we ran the dragon down and back. we stopped at a pull off zone to take pictures and catch a drink. i took off my helmet and set it on the tank. i was staring off the side into the mountains when i heard my helmet sliding. i turned back real quick only to lean over and catch the helmet out of the air. the bad thing is that i was so leaned over that i lost my balance and i fell and the bike fell on top of me. no damage to the bike, but my pride took a huge hit. best news was that the helmet didnt end up hitting the ground.

nice...

I like how you comment on "no damage to the bike, and your pride too a huge hit".... the hell with your leg the bike fell on. Spoken like a true rider. It would have been better if you had pictures. The guys I ride with would have had cameras out for the stop and took pictures before they helped me.

About a month ago, i took this girl out for the first time. She was smokin hot, and i took her to a secret getaway spot just outside of town where there's this waterfall that looks awesome at nite. Well, we get there, and to get to the waterfall you have to pull off the road and go down a small grass hill to the creek. Well, i'm so used to drivin my jeep down there, that i realized that in order to see the waterfall i was gonna need to take my bike down and use the headlights. No big deal, i think. So, we're rollin down this hill---MAYBE 2 MPH---and apparently i grab the front brake a little too hard, and the nose dives left and i can't keep it from fallin. I stayed on my feet, but needless to say the beauty on the back went flyin off and rollin down the hill!!! Not to mention my bike would start right away, so i had to push the thing all the way back up to the road and run start it to get it crankin again. She was a good sport about it though, and actually laughed as soon as it happened.

how the hell do you guys get the ladies back on the bike after things like this happens? My wife would walk home. Nice story, I'm glad the bike was ok. Oh-yeah, and the girl wasn't hurt either. Thanks for sharing and keeping the thread going.

well, i guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.... but for me, it was last night. i just got a new set of dunlop 208 tires mounted ( my first new set after the stock ones). i was pumped to go out for a ride with some friends and experience the new tires. i pulled onto an on-ramp a little too fast and started moving to the outside. in a slight panic, i reached for the front brake and (as expected) the bike stood straight up. the bike veered off the road and tossed off me like a prom dress. luckily for me i had slowed down enough that when i hit the ground/gaurd rail, i only sustained minor injuries. small rash on the knee, small bruise on the hip. the bike got a black eye and plastic damage. all in all, i learned a valuable lesson...concrete is hard!

Story from a friend

There was this guy driving a brand new Harley home from the dealership and he approached a stop sign. He gradually slowed down and all of a sudden just tipped over. Being a motorcycle rider he busted out laughing at the guy and then gained his composer and went up to him to give him a hand. He helped the gentleman up and asked him why didn't he put his foot down and the man replied with "that never accured to me"

As I backed the two-wheeler into the garage last night, I dropped the kickstand and properly dismounted. For some stupid reason, I was not happy with the position of the bike. I decided to move it forward a few inches, of course not realizing that I had slightly retracted the kickstand. I let go of the handlebars and just started to turn around when suddenly I felt the weight of the bike on my right thigh.

I grabbed the bars and we began our decent. Luckily my left shoulder struck the garage wall preventing me from falling any further (ouch!). As I straightened up the black beast, my face was red, my arms looked like I just finished boot camp, and my adrenalin was pumping like being chased by a big dog. While cursing softly, I managed to collect myself before entering the house.

As I opened the door, my wife looked at me and asked….“how was your ride”? In a very cool and somber tone I said…“it was alright”. She then said….“hope it was better than your parking”.

I had new tires on my 02 R1 and rather than concerntrating on new skins on front and back, and more on whether I put everything back right and torque I took a bend a little too fast and low sided. Felt liek a complete a$$ thinking what the hell just happen then I realized oh yeah new tires on front and back with 0 miles on them!

Don't feel bad and F them!

good stories.... love em. Gives us all something to think about.

I have one from my riding buddy.

Not much to tell, just when you stop at a toll plaza, watch your feet. It was funny watching him running in place like scooby doo trying to keep his VTX1800 upright. The oil from the cagers and harley's leave a nice slick for us to stand in.
