parked bike in the grass while i got my ramp out and when i turned around the kickstand sank and their she went
only damage was right under the 600RR sticker it crimped my plastic a little and cracked the paint. so aggravated but ohh well

When I had my F3 some friends and I met some girls at village inn and conversation moved to the parking lot because the chicks dig bikes and wanted to see. I was standing real cool like, (you know arms crossed and leaning on the stand side of the bike) and didn`t notice that every time I adjusted my ass I stood the bike up a little more. Finally, It went over and since I was already leaning on it, the windmill arms thing could only buy me about 2 seconds before I fell backwards over the bike. My feet went all the way over during my secret ninja backflip and I landed the steel toe of my boot into the car in the next spot over, setting off the alarm. Did I mention we were on the window side of the building ? Anyone who wasn`t watching already gave their full attention to the car alarm. By the time I got to my feet the chicks were gone and my friends were laughing too hard to help. Then I had to deal with the owner of the car I just put a dent in.

I have also dropped the bike off the stand and forgot to put the kickstand down. twice.

I don't know.. but I think that's one of the best ones so far.

I forgot all about this until you mentioned the kickstand bit.... when I was in my MSF course, a boyfriend/girlfriend duo were there with their matching black/grey gixxers. She was all of 5' nothing so they took her bike to a shop to have it lowered before the class. Very nice job, I guess if you like lowered bikes... but one thing. They never touch the kicked stand. On flat ground with the stand down, the bike was perfectly straight up. Ever few minutes as the instructors were going over the next task... crash. Anytime the wind blew... BAM! Lesson learned. After a couple drops, we held the task discussions next to her bike.

got a new dumbass moment for all of you to enjoy. a couple days ago, i deciding to take my drz400s out for some backroads fun. started it up with the choke open to full (really high revs.) so i backed it up in the garage. i didn't think about checking the neutral light and let go of the clutch. the bike lunged forward and popped one hell of a wheelie right into the passenger door of my truck. this set off the alarm. by the time i ran into the house to get my keys to turn the alarm off, my nosey-ass neighbor came over to see what was going on. i came out to see him laughing, the bike on its side and a monster dent in my door. i told him to get out and went back inside and called it a day.

no real bike damage. there are some new scuffs on the left side where it hit the concrete. but there were already a few of them there. no big deal. when it hit the truck, it hit with the tire. by the way, got my estimate for the door damage today. $1400. ouch. no digi cam or i would post up some pics. i do some pics that i took with a regular camera that i will try and scan and post.

Just bought a 05 1krr. First bike ever owned. About two weeks into the best purchase I've ever made, out riding on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, girlfriend and daughter behind me in the car. Pulled up to an intersection, first one in line. Girlfriend and daughter first in line as well next lane over. Wanted to impress them and everybody else so I thought I would give every one a good burnout. Started out good at first, the bike started to move a little bit so I freaked out and attempted to pull in the clutch. At the same time I actually let off the front brake and bike shoots out of under me and damn near stands straight up. Only problem is I never let go of the throttle. The bike falls over to the left and collapes on the back of my leg, still in mind throttle is full on. The bike starts spinning out on the side and does a 720 while I'm hanging on for dear life. Finally let go of the throttle and the bike comes to a stop, facing opposite direction as traffic, and the light turns green. I ride with a few cops and they were actually able to get it on video from the camera on the traffic light. The most halarious and embarrasing thing ever.

You've just experienced what is commonly known as "The Idiot Tax". It's an oft mentioned surcharge levied on anyone daffy enough to get a 1000 as their first bike. Consider yourself lucky. Sometimes the tax is MUCH higher.

JeffRR,

Great write up. Felt like I was right there with you. Glad you are OK. Any damage to the bike? With all that said I can't wait till spring to buy my CBR 1KRR.

Please keep these stories coming, I'm a newbie with an F4i that plans to learn from other's experience. So far it seems like it is inevitable that I'll be posting here for real, hopefully the idiot tax is a lot cheaper for a 600cc ride. I will try my best to keep my head out of my a$$ and stay focused and avoid what seems like a foregone conclusion. Do they make big nerf frame sliders????

yo fish heres a short list of advice I am sure all will agree and probably add onto: when its wet watch out for paint, manholes and oil puddles. At any time watch out for loose gravel sand oil and basically anything that looks slippery including pineneedles and leaves. When at a stoplight look behindyou cuz gettn rear ended on a bike will either kill you or give you the worst case of prison butt in you life and finally do ot ever ride outside your limits dont ever try to catch someone faster then you. It will come in time that you can stay up trust me. All my homies have been riding for 4 years plus this is my first season on my own bike and its almost been a year I am catchn up little by little but not enough to make me uneasy good luck man

I've dropped the bike 3 times:

1) Stupid me, decided to take a shortcut to the gas station through a motel parking lot. The front of the parking spots at the motel had PVC pipe laid down to mark the front I guess. Maybe 1 1/2 inch pvc.. In my mind I am thinking, I'll roll over it no big deal... WRONG... front tire hit it and the bike went down on the left side with me under it... very low speed, like walking speed... My friend at the gas station looked over and saw me picking up the bike....typical damage to left side of bike, fairing, sator cover, clutch, etc....

2) Coming out of my driveway I went too far into the street before turning right.... turned right anyway, very low speed, then immediate left around the curve.... not sure what happend, probably cold tires and too much turn, next thing I know I am on my back sliding, head up watching my bike sliding on it's left side down the neighborhood street in front of me, very sureal moment.... i come to a stop on my back, get up and look around.... nobody's outside, I don't think anyway saw it... got on bike and back to house to go cry on my pillow for 10 minutes...left side all scratched up again, stator cover again, mirror etc...

3) Going down 2 way street at 45MPH. Dodge 1500 at a stop decides to turn left into a driveway across the street and directly in front of me... not sure why he decided to turn at that time as i saw him stopped there for a good 15-20 seconds before i got to him.... anyway, i don't want to eat the Dodge front grille so i veer right into the grass... riding in grass a few seconds and decide i want to stop for some reason and mash the front brakes, all down hill from there... luckily the bikes in the grass, but i fell off the bike and did barrell rolls with my lower half rolling in the grass and my upper half of my body rolling on the street.... palms cut up, knee banged up, helmet knocked around pretty good etc... bike left signal torn off upper cowl, left side scrapped more, usual bike damage.....cops didn't site anyway as there were no witnesses....

so the left side of my bike by now is trashed... but i got lucky in a weird way

took the bike to the local honda dealership to get a new rear tire...they put it on and took it out for test ride and DUMPED it hard!!!
best day of my motorcycle life!!! they cracked the left fairing, mirror, scuffed front and rear cowl, etc. etc. etc.

so i get ALL NEW platics and pieces ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!!! NEW BIKE for all intensive purposes!!

well, there a dent in the fuel tank from when i replaced my spark plugs and accidentally dropped the tank on my driveway.. dumb me, but local body shop told me ony $200 to fixer up.... so will do that this winter...
