1991 CBR1000F. I park right next to the building where I work. Not in the lot, where I would have to pay for a spot, but on a concrete apron right next to the wall. Problem is that to get into the lot heading the right way I have to do two linked 180-degree turns from a standing start, and I go down a ramp from the curb to the lot in the middle of the second turn. So one Sunday I was in my office just an hour or so, and when I came out, I didn't choke the engine, thinking it would still be warm. Bike stumbles in the middle of that second turn, starts to go over to the right. No prob. I'll just put my foot down. The new problem is that the wheels are on the ramp, but my foot isn't. I sort of stab at the pavement with my right foot and miss by about three inches. I went down so fast my hands were still on the grips. Picked the bike up fast (not easy with a big Hurricane) and got out of there faster. No witnesses. Except me, dammit. Wish I didn't have to be around when I do something embarrassing. Craig

My driveway is about a 35 degree angle or so, i like to think its almost vertical. So we put sand and salt on it in the winter to help the cars get up the driveway. Well the first day it was nice and the snow started melting i took it out. On my way home i pulled up the drive way and to my horror i started sliding backwards on a thick patch of sand/water that was still there. I hit the front brake and set my foot down as the front end started to rotate to the right a little. She started to lean to the right hard so I hit the engine cutoff pulled my left leg over and set it in the sand accidently, i tried to guide it as slowly as i could but in the end i fell also . I bent the rear brake lever and left a small ding on the bar end. Worse yet my jerk of a neighbor was outside pulling his trash from the curb. (He calls the cops on us when we leave our vheicles sitting in the same spot more than 72hrs.) When I looked behind me he just shook his head laughing as he went back inside without helping me to get the bike back on its wheels . Mind you, it was still in the middle of the driveway.

I have a red flag on my lock that says "remove before flight" to remind me to take my lock off. And I always put the lock on so that it's touching the caliper. Back disc at that.

I have dropped both my gsxr and my cbr several times but every time I was able to catch it. The last time was after an at least 7 hr ride. I brought the bike inside and did the helmet glove and no kickstand thing sigh don't ya just love the ohh shit moments. So no my bike is 2/3 to the floor and I'm grunting pulling the thing back up with one hand at first luckily I was able to grap the other bar and muscle it back to its upright posistion. Only thing I gt a small scuff on the passenger left pannel beside the passenger seat. Nothing bad though it will buff out cause it just rubbed on the wall. I will a will say this if your an average sized guy and you don't wimp out provided your feet are planted you should have no problem catching these things. I think most end up dropping just out of surprise and then they fail to commit to picking it up. It will seem VERY FREAKING heavy but once you stop the downward motion then you should be able to pick it back up with out it ever touching the ground. Just don't give up and make up your mind your not letting go. Fyi if you don't do weights HEAVY weights then this WILL hurt a little but once again dont give up and muscle your way through it use your legs back and arms DON'T just try to use your arms. If yu are going to practice in the grass you should wear cleats other wise your shoes are going to slide. This is bad sence when your on the pavment your shoes probably wont slip because so much weight will be planted on at least one foot. Thats my two cents.

i have 4 good ones lol. When i first got my bike it was chillen in my front yard went inside and about 10 min later a dude knocked on my door from like 3 houses down to tell me my bike fell over! ha wet grass and the kickstand dont work. #2 i was buying some stupid kid in town some nasty ass chew and i went thru the smoke shop. As i set ther and wait i put down the stand and as i lifted my foot back up to chill on the sets i went crashing into the wall on the left almost thru the drive up window! didn get it down all the way haha took off my mirror got some scratches and freaked that dude out. #3 i left work one night at 11pm and stupidly ripped her loose with a nice cold tire bike went sideways tried to bring it back and high sided my ass over the bike and onto the road got quite a bit of rash from that one AND LAST but not least i let my half drunk dad try to ride it 10 feet to the garage and he completely went the wrong way (obviously didnt know shit about counter steering) and almost dropped it like 3 times and as im screaming at him to stop he plows into his own mailbox and is like cbr sanwhich between my bike and the mail box bwah haha not to mention he tore up the OTHER side of my 06 cbr i was soooo mad still aint got the right side fixed bought an exhaust instead haha. hotbodies is expensive!

Sad to say I just got done building a 2004 and the next week i went to Allendale and stopped into the toy shop, (honda dealership) and i was just peaking in the window druling. Anyways i clicked it into neutral and i dont know why but i thought i put the stand down but i didn't. Tipped it over and couldn't hold it. SCRATCH!!! NOOO. Oooh well, that is why it helps to paint yourself.

I was thinking to myself over the last 2 days about the pants getting caught thing and wondering how often this happens, its been my fear before I had my own bike, kinda weird... I have seen a few bicycle riders get their clip in shoes stuck and fall over though... priceless.

This las weekend I was ridin with a couple of buddies and im not gonna lie we werent going the speed limit. We were comin up on an exit and a car comes from three lanes across and cuts me off, i try to avoid hitting her(succesful) and i get on the brakes a little to hard and my front tire locks up, i lose control and lay my bike down. She didnt even stop, probably didn't even see but i was still pissed.

Good stories.. I've only had my bike for a week and the second day I dropped it. But it gets worse. I was pulling my bike out, and prior to that I had to rev up the engine for all the people having a BBQ, about 15 people (only bike in the dorms). Well, I probably should'nt have been riding the bike anyways. My leg was sprained from weightlifting a few weeks ago. As I was backing out, my left leg just gave out. Fortunately.. there was only one tiny little paintscratch, because my leg took 90% of the damage. And then to top things off, I tried to lift the bike up and completely failed, proving once again to the people I know how much of a moron I am. Pretty much end of story, some guys helped me pick it up, and I just rode out disgruntled not making eye contact with my mirrored visor. Sigh.

Earlier in the post there were some of you that said to drop the bike in the grass. What is the purpose of this? Is it to practice picking it up by yourself? If so, is picking it up by yourself really hard? I weigh about 150 mostly muscle (used to weigh 135 and started working out so hopefully its true) will I have trouble picking up a bike?
