I can only get my cbr 1k to 174mph thats with a pipe.  Its fast plenty fast.  I just remember before deciding to go with the cbr1k reading all the reviews, and they had the cbr1000 doing 185mph.   Can't seem to get close to that.

Now I read about the new gixxer that does 190mph out of the box.  Not to mention the cool black and orange color scheme they have out.  Thats as fast as a hayabusa.  The 0-60 and quarter mile times are blazing fast too.

Not that I would get rid of my honda but am thinking about maybe possibly adding the gsxr to the stable.

Anyone have a gsxr 1000 07 or thinking about getting one or have any experience with the gixxers?

Ive had my 06 1krr going 180 for 10 miles on I5 in CA.  Best I could do with it, (Indicated 180 so probably 175 from what I read).  I weigh 210 and wear a big bulky textile jacket & Jeans.  A friend has an 05 GSXR 1000 which is similarly as fast, short distance he is faster long distance Im faster.  Those things have tons of torque but too long of gear ratios in my opinion.  Another friend with an 06 GSXR had his to 190 indicated.  So deffinatly faster top speed than the Fireblad but I can outcorner both of them.  The Blad is just a better all around bike.  Track Id take a ZX10R and top speed Id take a GSXR.

But how often are you really ever going to go 190+?  And how often do you track your bike?

Suzuki meens Unreliable but cheap in Japanease.

I've seen that video and it was one of the deciding factors that made me go with a cbr1k.  It was a toss up between that and a R1.  But what I don't understand is in that video they say the fireblade is the top bike for 07.  But then they come out with another video with the other guy with long hair and they name the R1 as the top bike for the same 07 year.

I don't think I will be going 190mph very often but if a bike is capable it usually will have all the tech and goodies in order for it to go that fast and it must be a good bike.

I haven't heard of anyone with a suzuki ever having problems with their bikes.  Other than the normal things that happen after a couple of years.  I'm wondering if there are things about the bike that is not as good ergonimicaly as the cbr.

There are a lot of factors like your weight, elevation etc that could effect the top speed.

There isnt a factory bike (asside from the new MV) that will break 186mph.  They are ALL governed to no more than 186mph from the "gentlemans act" of 2000.  All the factories (not MV) signed an agreement to limit top speed of ANY bike they produce........anyone saying they are going faster is on crack and lying...........unless heavily modded anyway.

The 07 GSX-R is NOT hitting anything higher than that.  My 02 speedo will read 186mph.............and no more.........and it lies.

175 was the highest published top speed I've ever seen for a 1000RR.

What the heck are you talking about............. a T.R.E (which is a simple ass mod) will take care of that. I doesnt need to be heavily modded.

Oh sure.......it'll remove the top speed limiter..........but it's not going to get it over 190mph.  Cycle World removed the limiter on the ZX-14 and it wouldnt do it either........I doubt highly that a less powerful, aerodynamically inferior bike will do it either.
