i just recently wrecked my 07 600rr cuz some retarded lady came to a complete stop to comit a illegel uturn while i was riding with some of my buddies. It looks as if its only cosmetic but the ppl at the shop told me my frame mite be damaged cuz the handle bars are turning more than usual. so if it is totaled, what is the salvage value of it? or im basically screwed with a brand new bike that only has 1000 miles?

What does your insurance company say?  They're the ones that'll tell you what the salvage value is if it can't be fixed.

Would like to hear more details of the accident ie How did her coming to a complete stop (illegal turn or not) cause you to wreck your bike?  What did the cops say?

Sorry about the damage, but always leave enough room to stop no matter what. Ride safe.

was is it a front collission?
first, take off the fairing yourself and inspect the bike yourself.
you should really fix the bike yourself always before reporting it to insurance company always. the shop is gonna say you have 5grand in damage, the insurance company will pay up and then you will have yourself a nice salvaged title for a brand new bike. due to that salvaged title you will sell your bike for minimum of 1000-1500 bucks less (going by NYC local rate). so first come up with some opnions then decide which way you will loose the least. good to know that you were not harmed

wel as of the story. basically we were riding in a pack of 6 in stagger formation on a highway that has a speed limite of 50 mph. so we were behind this accord and u know how usually u basically all up on its ass cuz it was a busy traffic road. and she decided to slam on ther brakes to try to make a uturn in the middle of the road. so she was turning towards the left and the guy who was the first inline started skidding and try to go in the crack on the left but since she started turing to the left he hit her on the bak and the guy behind him ran into him. while i was the 4th in the pack so the 2nd guy who was infront of me actually swerve right a lil  and was able to not hit her but i was behind him and all my shit locked and i had no where to go so i basicaly ran into the right of his brand new r1 and i basically ripped this subframe apart. and the thing is she got ticketed and the cop said she was at fault but insurnace company said its our fault cuz in the state of va ur suppose to leave following distance so if anyone stops for any reason u shold be able to come to a complete stop. and i only have liability on my bike cuz comprehensive would be 6gs a year so i mite as well buy a new bike. so im basically stuck with the bill to my bike and my insurance is actually gona pay for my friends r1. but wahever i guess i could learn how to take apart m bike and replace the frame if it is damaged i guess.

Hire a lawyer and go after her insurance co. Same with everybody else involved. Your insurance shouldn't have to cover your buddies R1 since she was the cause of the whole incident...regardless of how close you were following.

If she got ticketed and the cop says it was her fault, then there's no way the insurance can charge you or anyone else.  You need to fight that man.

+1 on the lawyer and going after the insurance co. Just do not be in a hurry.
It will probably take almost a year to settle. And what ever fees are incurred for the attorney.

My suggestion is learn from the lesson of following too close.

And Ebay your crashed bike (Part it out) and get what you can. Should be quite a bit since there are not many parts out there for it.

And buy a new bike, and enjoy the Spring/Summer right now. The one thing you cannot replace is time. And know one knows how much they have left.

dude i dont see how you could have bent the frame how fast were you going when u hit the other bike? i think they are bullllllshitin u about the frame but i havent seen it......anyways if i had a 07 i would definatly get a new frame shit its only 07 and i see frames for my bike (06) on ebay all the time but i would bet its not truely bent it takes a lot to do that. I had a buddy wreck his older cbr doing a wheelie it basically fliped and the frame lived. find a trust worthy mechanic/tech and get that bike looked at better.

why do you think it is so? if the insurance company does not pay for his buddy's damamge then he should pay for the damage to the R1 out of pocket. the story states that the R! avoided the reck but this guy rammed into R!. hence, the R1 is not at fault and it should be repaired by the this guys insurance.

secondly, i already asked the guy if this was a front collision and he did not specify. he should just inspect the frame himself and try to fix the bike. always keep your distance from other riders, no matter how good of rider(s) you think they are.
