Any on have this problem...knockin/tapping noise coming from maybe the headers. Could be a bad head, only got 5k on it. Last Oil change was at 1500 hadn't riding much yet this season. Taking it in cause its still under warranty. I haven't seen any recalls on the bike yet.

valve lifters? cct? may be CCT Lifter. Its a common issue on the F4i. Not sure about the RR.
Having a "bad head" can cause men to riot....:)

Does it make that sound when you first start out like at a stop light?  If so it's just that the your RPMs are low and your lugging the engine.  If you start out in a high gear with a manual car the engine will make the same sound.  It's nothing to worry about.  I have an 06 1000 and it makes that sound I think your talking about only when I give it too much clutch and not enough gas. I've done it on new Suzukis and Kawasakis. It's just more noticable on the Hondas.  If you don't believe me I'm also a Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki motorcycle certified technician.

Thanks for the response. I think you could be right the valve lifter could be it. I only makes the noise or should I say you hear it when you roll on the throttle. I was thinking at first it head but the bike was serviced at 1500 and no I have 5k on it. I didnt' get chance to change the oil myself and was my way to the motorcycle shop to get the stuff when I took it out for a quick ride and it started knockin. I checked the oil window after I turned it off and it was low. I hadn't heard of the 1000rr burning oil like that so I'm a lil concerned. I'm taking it in on Weds, I'm leaving today to go to the track. I was going to take my own bike and now I have to rent one when I get there.
