Ok, I bought the bike a few months ago, it ran for lil while then it wouldn't start. I changed the plugs, oil, fuel filter, and put some carb cleaner in the carbs. It ran like a champ. I went out the other day to start it, it ran for a minute then it died. Ever since then it wouldnt start. Please Help.

yeah i tried that, still wotn start. it almost wants to start but it doesnt. i think it might be the fuel pump. the fuel pump pumps but i dunno if its at its full potential.

Hi if you read some of my other replies on the forum it'll sound like i'm a stuck record, regulator/rectifier. Its a small sealed plastic unit that stores energy to run the engine at idle and gives boosts when starting. Have a word with your local bike dealer or search for regulator/rectifier on the threads. Hope it helps, if not its worth a try to cancel something out. You'll be surprised how many seasoned bikers never think of these little things. Good luck

if it will turn over, and occasionally stutter, pull your fuel pump off and hook it up to a battery, see if it's pumping

Not quite. The regulator and rectifier are part of the charging system, they convert the AC output from your stator to a DC voltage (rectifier part) and uses that voltage differential to recharge your battery and run the electrical components on the bike (regulator part). The starting motor pulls current directly from the battery through the starter relay, you could completely disconnect your rectifier and still start the bike fine. What happens when the unit fails is your charging system stops working, your battery is being used to not only start the bike, but keep everything running once it gets going, this is a huge strain on the battery and will quickly burn out cells in it. Once that happens the battery is toast pretty much, motorcycle batteries are not designed to "deep cycle."

However, it doesn't sound like that is his current problem. I need some more info though, when you say that the bike won't start anymore is it still turning over and there's a problem with no ignition/fuel/combustion? Or is it not even turning over at all anymore?

Doesn't the magneto recharge the battery? And the regulator part regulate the amount of current from this?
