I know Honda recommends 10W fork oil, would the difference between 10W and 5W be very noticable?
Has anyone had any experience with the lighter oil?

lighter oil equals slightly softer ride, heavier oil slightly stiffer ride.

I picked up some 10W oil at Cycle Gear today. Pretty cool store, not a lot of bike accessory stores locally where I live. They are online as well. Especially helpful if you show an interest in a $500 helmet first :)

Mine was extremely soft in the corners before I changed it.

I used Amsoil ATF, it's much gooder now!

Very easy job, just use a socket for the caps and make sure you accuretely measure the fluid.

I use Bel-Ray 15wt with 8psi in each fork.

This is working very well for me!

(not to harsh and no bottoming out)

Fork oil rating works this way.

Lighter weight fork oil speeds up the action of the fork, while heaver weight fork oil slows down the compression and rebound of the fork action, you will tend to bottom out your forks using a lighter weight fork oil because of the quicker action or responce.

ATF is a 15 weight oil and works very well in street motorcycle forks!

The only draw back with ATF is it does not have an antifoaming additive Like a Bel-Ray type fork oil and ATF will foam under harsh conditions like Motocross or hard trail riding.

Amzoil ATF or GM Red ATF should be ok for street use, but if you find the front end getting hard and unresponsive just bleed off the air pressure in each fork and this should get you home and help to prevent you from bending the front rim untill you change fluids.

Another use for GM Red ATF.

Those of you using a K+N or foam washable air filter.

Basically K+N filter oil is GM Red ATF.

So you can save a few dollars and by a quart of GM Red ATF and use it to oil your air filters.
