i had to figure out how to mount the cable for the rear seat lock, but that was pretty easy, especially since the hole for the lock was drilled already.

Could you take pictures of the lock and maybe explain how you mounted it? I just started installing this undertail and I can't figure out how to get the lock mounted so that it works correctly. Thanks

no problem, ill snap a picture for you when i get home tonight from work

Thanks, that'll be a big help.

here ya go:

i had to add an extra notch to the hole in the undertail so that i could correctly orientate the lock cylinder. then i drilled 2 small holes in the side of the tray so that i could put a zip tie around the cable to hold it there. i plan on eventually making a little bracket to hold it there in place of the zip tie. let me know if you need any more help.

Thanks, I was trying to somehow connect it to the metal thing that is right beside it, but your way makes more sense. I'll give it a try this weekend.

Other then the color being a little off the under tail looks really good.

I just bought the same undertail for my 02 f4i.  I was wondering if you could help me out with some istallation instructions particularly what you did with the taillight and that braket that came with the undertail.

Thanks

hey Axsys,
Where did you have to drill the holes to mount the undertail to the sub frame and do you have pictures of this?

Phil11,

For the tail light, there are 2 tabs by taillight hole. I bent then straight up and then put the 2 bolts on the taillight through the U-shaped parts of the tabs on the undertail.

As for mounting the undertail, I had to drill 4 holes on the bottom where there are holes in the tail fairing that the plastic rivets go through. Then I had to drill 1 hole on each side of the cargo area at the very end of the subframe where the bolts go in from the inside. Then, I had to make a long L-shaped bracket for the battery try that mounts under the tank bolts.

It's hard to describe it all from words, so I will try to take a few pictures tonight and update the first post with them.
