Ok i reserved judgement till i could actually see the video and after watching it I DO feel that that cop was in the wrong to push the bike over, NO it wasnt in the way, suspect was already down, not resisting, i can understand still running code-3 till back up arrived, but as soon as the first cruiser showed up everyone else should of backed off and ran code-2 if they must till they got there, the guy was already cuffed, not fighting, no problem, the problem was the officers were trying to fight each other to get to him, dont say bs in my 2 1/2 years as a Jailer ive seen us wind up fighting each other more than we are fighting the inmate b/c you get to many guys in the cell trying to take the guy down, same thing here too many cops trying to arrest the same guy, am i saying he was right for running? no, im not he ran and he got what he deserved but on the same level the cop was in the wrong for pushing the bike over. The pursuit was over, he was in custody, everything was fine, no officer was hurt so there was no reason to push the bike over, had he been resisting arrest i would say yes i can see pushing it over, but he wasnt he was already in custody, if it was in the county i worked at if the sheriff saw it i can gurantee the cop that pushed the bike over would of been put on leave or written up. am i taking up for the biker and cop bashing?? NO so before anyone says i am read what i wrote and get your ducks in a row. I am very pro-cop, hell im in the hiring process at Travis Co. S.O. right now, but still we are just like everyone else, we mess up. I know what its like to have your adrenaline running 100 miles an hour after some guy takes a swing at your or you have to do a cell extract and ive seen jailers do stupid stuff that cost them there jobs, hell ive done stupid stuff myself, but the point is i can understand both sides but the point is the cop was wrong to push the bike over.

I have said the cop was in the wrong since the beginning of the thread. I said the rider was also in the wrong and in my book, more so. Running is far worse than pushing a bike over. Both are still wrong however.

I have a few things to say. I completely miss this fricken thread. A. There ae some ignorant and incompetent people on this forum that have NO sense of respect. B. There are some many of you little whiny s***'s that want to bash the police but then when something goes wrong, you cry because they dont get there fast enough. Honestly, I think people like you should be left to fend for yourself if you are some confident and independent. C. Yes, BOTH parties were in the wrong, but looking at it from a law enforcing point of view, there could have been several reasons to do that. 1 being because there would have been no way he could have broken free and took off again. 2. because if you look were the crap was when he was struggling his back was up against it and his feet almost hitting the tire. 3 out of pure aggression. No one knows the entire story ( atleast myself) behind why he ran. HOWEVER, there would have been some reason for it, and in some states, if he was clocked doing over 30+ ( which is reckless driving and unlawful sppeding and unlawful use of a motor vehicle) there would have been grounds to pursue. Whether he was doing it or 3 people where doing it, danger was involved, yes people could have been put at risk, but there was no heavy traffic an no dangerous action were taken during the pursuit (from the cars point of view anyway). And in response to the "the cop was retarded because he took the shoulder comment" that is what you are trained to do, why, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRAFFIC!!! Cars are supposed to get out of the was to the RIGHT, and he was on the left shoulder, makes sense right!!!! Wow, see how this all plays out. Also, Another reason they could have persued, is because they would have been the leed unit, since the only other unit involved was a motorcycle. Motorcycles have no back up or no room for anything. Also, because if the car would have caught up, the bike could have backed off, endangering one less person. Yes, there was some redneck yelling but apparently itwas done for some sort of reason, because if it wasnt, a commander (whether it be Corp, Sgt, or LT) someone would have called them off. And the fact that the dumb f***er is in the force makes this even worse. He know whats right and wrong and is supposed to represent and follow. He got what he deserved imo. Was it totally right what happedn ..... no. Where there grounds Yes!!!! So all you anti-cop police bashing whiners out there need to rethink and re-assess the situation and think it through without a FTP point of view, because its those people (like the suspect) the cops have a F*** YOU attitude right back, so quit the bi***in!

i dont know how i feel about the cop pushing the bike over. i feel yes they were both in the wrong but i do feel he believe the bike was in the way but at the same time the bike could have just as easly been rolled foward like rtb said. but one thing keeps coming to my mind after watching this thing on 20/20 like 2 years ago about police chases and police rage. and that after a high speed chase police officers build up a lot of adrenilan and often suffer a lot of stress making them do things that seem very irrational.
