i sold my 1998 f3 with yoshi pipe 12,000k for $3500. Very good condition, black and red, minor cosmetic scratches. so i think you can do better than a 40,000k bike for the same price. The guy was very anxious to buy so that was in my favor. Be patient, deals do drop in your hands. It's actually the best bike I've ever ridden.

All of these opinions are relative though, it's up to you in the long run.

It's much easier to sit back and say what you would or wouldn't pay for a bike when you just parked yours - just don't get taken man. If you lose some cash, chalk it up to learning and move on...

Of course, losing money is what we don't want to do ;)

Sounds way too high. I bought my 97 in 11/2005 with 17K for $3200 and my 96 with 20K for $2200.

And I live in Houston, TX where you can pretty much ride every week of the year.

The bike will indeed run forever....some cheaper parts wear out...fork seals, shock, wheel bearings, chains....but that engine will go forever on the street. But on the price...yeah...steep for the miles. Around here, peak season it would bring $23-2400.

The smoking joes scheme adds ZERO value....

Keep looking.....

Okay. I've got two things to say.
1) Take off caps lock.
and 2) I think it's a bad idea. I got my '96 cbr F3 for 2200 and it had 18,000 miles on it.  It had cosmetic damage but it was fixable. Also the person that sold it to me had it checked out to show that the frame and the sub-frame, and the forks were all straight.

I'd say keep looking.
