so I installed Lojack on my new 1krr. I live in a very high theft area, and I park the bike outside, so I thought it was kinda mandatory. Anybody have any experience or stats about this? Was it $600 well spent, or just thrown down a hole?

Also curious about the lack of any deterrant informing a would-be thief that the bike has lojack on it. They said it's for the best, preventing someone from trying to remove the unit and possibly damaging the bike.

If I were you, I would step it up a bit and get the "Early Warning Dectection" for the lo-jack.
It calls you and 5 others (of your choice).... to notify you & them that the bike has been moved without the key in it.

As for more deterrant, I would get a lo-jack sticker and put it on the windscreen or somewhere visible!

Concerning a LoJack sticker....If I was a thief it wouldn't be a problem to tear down a bike and find it in less time than you realize your bike is missing.

Not funny,

While in college at Clemson, I got my ninja 900 stolen by a clean cut Anglo kid.   Also caught an Asian man trying to steal another bike.   Does the “Migra” work for European/Asian/African immigrant as well?   By the way, my neighbor is what I call a white trash that has been jobless since I moved in to the neighborhood.  He has stolen from all the hard working citizens in the neighborhood.  Lucky for us, he is not presently steeling due to his long stay visit at the big house.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!

photo2u (George), I dont live in Clemson but I do get out there very often, I work for the company tha t has done pretty much all the banner and other graphics at Clemson. When I ride on the weekends it is usually up 178 to Rosman, pick up 215 to the Parkway over to 276 down to the ranger station and back around. If you havent taken that route before it is a great ride.

I looked into getting one for my bike but they don't offer it for Georgia so I designed and made a strip of my own weatherproof decals and put it on all mine and my friends bikes (on the tripletree next to ignition switch). I can't say for certainty how effective they are but all I can say is mine nor any of my friends bikes have been messed with in the 3 years we've had the decals on them .. although I don't know whether I would use the decal or not if I actually had LoJack installed ?!?

GO TIGERS ALL THE WAY BROTHER!!!!!

Yes,  I remember when I lived there in the early 80's.  S. Carolina is a cool please for bikes.  I have not been there in some time.
I sure wish I can take my rc there for a road trip.

I have a scorpio alarm.....  an active protection is a must first of all... like a lock and chain the ungaurd stufF.... or what ever...

then move on to the fancy things...  but... i dont know about lojack.... heard bad stuff about them.... that only if the cop has the tracker on... will the lojack be usefull.... and not all cars are equiped with it.  and the bike has to be with in what... 200meters of the cop car?...

what i think is ideal is.... a gps tracking system... something that you can track when ever you want.... not at the cops courtesy.    but it will be costly.

GPS traking sounds really cool. BUT do you think it could work against you? Lets say it gives certian people information about your riding habbits such as top speed, average speed, ect. Is that something you might possibly be able to self-incriminate yourself with? Maybe I am just thinking about it too in depth...

you are probably not thinking too in depth, however to get that info....the fuzz would have to

-impound the bike
-go through it and be smart enough to know that gps was installed
-and then obtain a search warrant and supina the gps company for the records.

I got a Cybertrak for my car for less than $200.  Install was another $100.  It was on sale at Fry's.  It's GPS and I can check whenever I want.  It also has a geo fence that calls, texts and emails me when the vehicle is moved outside the limit.  I'll know when it's gone even before the guy gets home, know what street he's on, speed, direction, etc..  If my stuff ever gets ripped off, I'll track it, kick the guys ass, then call the cops and say he fell....

I called the company and it can be installed on a motorcycle.   I'm waiting for them to go on sale again so I can get for my bike...

There are lots of other ways to track bikes pretty cheap.  Try one of those Trak Fones for about $100.  Small enough to hide anywhere on the bike.  I'm a weekend warrior, so my bike is never far from me when it leaves home.  One GPS tracker that's out is about the size of a pager and does just about the same as my Cybertrack, but it's way more expensive...
