I have been riding my cbr600F2 for awhile and I am getting use to the acceleration and speed of the bike but I was wondering what can I do that will make it faster? Acceleration is my main goal although I do not want to loss to much top end (mph). And I really won't be taking this thing to the track anytime soon I just want some more power/acceleration.
My bike right now has a K&N filter, it is jetted (stage 7), it has a performance header, a V&H can, and the V&H Power Pak.
I am not really looking into anything too crazy like turbo/nitrous, but if there are any kits out there that you guys know of I would love to check em out.

Basically, I am looking for the next step in modifications, whether it be bolt ons, or maybe something like getting bigger carbs or sending the motor out to get machined (idk).

Hit me up with some ideas Please.......

Where do I buy the sprockets from?
Is it -1 in the front +2 in the back?
Do I need to get a new chain?
Since I've never done this before how hard is it to do myself?
Will I lose MPG because of the higher cruising rpms?
Will this make it noticably faster or make it do wheelies? (both are cool...hhehe)

i read that going down one in the front is the same as going up 4 in the rear.. i believe those are the right numbers... then if you go up 2 in the rear that would be the same as just going up 6 in the rear so yeah it will help acceleration, wheelies and take offs... you wont need a new chain.

really easy to change.. i think there is a write up under the how to section i will look for.

oh yeah you can get them on ebay, dennis kirk, sprocket specialist and so on... sprocket specialist has a calculator also so you can mess with different setups!

dennis kirk also has a timing advancer for your bike, its like 58.99

heres the how to! http://www.cbrforum.com/m_17257/tm.htm

Best way to make the bike faster is to get faster yourself.  Go to the track and ride, learn from people with more experience.

My friend just got done porting and polishing with cams and full exhaust. his bike is pretty much maxed out he has a 2003 gsxr 750 with now 167 bhp from 129 bhp. he said porting and polishing was the best thing he couldve done best investment out there, seriously who need 167 hp on a 400lbs bike? im happy with my 96 hp on my f3 thats all i need trust me its a neck ripper as it is!

Ok thanks for the replys,  but to get to the point does anyone think that getting my head ported and polished will give me power gains like those of the above post?
The porting and polishing sounds cool ecspecially if I get that big of power gains, do you think after the machine work the bike will run weird (idle, air/fuel mixture incorrect, etc.)?
Another thing is my bike is carbeurated so I think I would have to get it rejetted or tuned or something, right?
Anyways I'm kinda thinking of doing something that will give me more power when I want it and not all the time, yep I'm thinking of Nitrous. Anyone wanna flame me for saying that its ok with me but I think nitrous is the best Cost/HP gain you can get.
If anyone thinks they have other ideas I definetally want to hear them otherwise can I get some
info/how to install Nitrous?

do it if thats what you want... just a few things i can offer since i am running a bottle...
1)the only thing about nitrous is its not a constant gain just a temporary one. and i would never use it on the street.(strip only) since you have to be at WOT before you engage it and stop spraying at redline.

2)at the track with a 30 shot it will give you about 1/10th of a sec gain in the 1/4 mile... nitrous is not the HUGE power gain that everyone thinks it is.. and if you do go that big the engine(rods, pistons, clutch, rings, head, head gasket, and everything better be built up the right way) or the engine will go BOOM the first time you hit the button....

3) you must have it dyno tuned with the nitrous on it or it will just mess everything up..

4) i have a 3lb bottle which is huge for a bike and i get about 8 -10 runs depending in a night at the track.

http://www.holley.com/03008NOS.asp on the right there are instructions!

you need any other help feel free to ask!

okay one more thing i ran into.. this is where i had it mounted with the factory braket and it was fine for about 1 hour then it was rubbing on my tire...not good.... so now i have a ext. swingarm on the way with a nitrous bottle holder built into it..  plus i think it  looks tacky (and unsafe) hanging off the side of the bike. so think about bottle placement too..

Ok I have not decided whether or not I wan to install nitrous just yet, which is proally a good idea but theres always next summer. (hehahah)
Anyways I am for sure doing the sprocket kit -1/+2.
Can someone tell me what size sprockets I need to buy in oreder to do the -1/+2?  (14 15 or 16 and the rear is like in the 30s I think)
sorry I'm away from my bike and I can't count it from here.
