Just picked up an '89 CBR600F basket case to build up into a track bike.
It's missing the exhaust system and was wondering which models exhaust headers interchange with the F1.

Not too concerned if the frame mounts are different (can fabricate/weld up new ones) but don't want to
hassle with bending or adapting pipes to bolt to the cylinder head or clear the frame.

On a general note,
There's a couple other parts missing or damaged (Starter, tank. etc.) so any other source on Model/Parts compatability
would be a great help.

95% of mechanical items for '87-'90 cbr 600 are interchangeable. the electrics are different.

starter - you can use above years but i also think you can use f2/f3 but check around first.

tank - you can use f2/f3 including above years.

put up a list of parts and we'll see what can be used from where.

Thanks MI,
My buddy and I are breaking it into sub-components and going through each system.
I'll post up more details once we have a full list of things needing relacement.

Do you know if the exhaust headers from the F2  and F3 will bolt up to '89 F?

that i do not know. i don't know what the exhuast port to port spacing is. i do not know what the port diameter is. if anyone can answer these 2 questions then you will know the final answer. i do know that a few folks in this forum have purchased D&D exhausts, so you may want to take that into consideration. also, i have found:

there is a 50/50 chance that f2/f3 may fit but the other issue is the forward engine angle. in pics the f2/f3 headers look close to those of the 87-90 units. but i would rather not go through the hassle when used 87-90 parts can be found on ebay or elsewheres. btw, the other thing i have noticed of the f3 headers is that the leftmost header tube is on a different angle than the other 3 and has crossover tubes between pairs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/I-1998-Honda-CBR-600-F3-Stock-OEM-Exhaust-Headers_W0QQitemZ260126533701QQihZ016QQcategoryZ10066QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
at least the f2 headers are equal length. you may run into a fitment problem with the f3 set just because of that leftmost tube.

Hey I got a set of headers sitting around, cheap if you want them. they are stock and could use some paint though.
