Ive been noticing a wierd ticking noise when my bike is idleing. Changed the oil, cleaned the air filter, and the carbs tonite. But at 1st we thought it was an exhaust leak, cause when we were looking at the manifold you could tell the bolts werent all the way tighten.  We were able to tighten about 1/2 of the bolts, fired up the bike and the noise was gone for awhile.  Seemed once the bike warmed up it was back.  Think it could be the valves?

Im debating on taking it to a local shop and have them put new gaskets on the header and downpipe.  And have them adjust the valves.

99.9% CCT. CAM CHAIN TENSIONER, You will hear it when the bike is warm, not so much or even at all when it is cold. $50.bucks for the part, can even do it yourself with basic knowledge. Theres a write up on it somewhere on the site

Not true, at idle it will sound like something is "rattling" around, around 5k in should sound more like a "bb in a pop can". Like I said its probally  the cct. I had a pretty bad rattling noise coming out of mine and got a new cct. Installed it and it was gone, I replaced mine at about 10000 roughly. This is a VERY common problem with the CBR. Do a search on the site about the CCT, theres alot of good information.

yea dude... most likely the cct... if not, and ur rods are ticking, ur ****ed!  was the bike ever raced or stunted?  i stunt my bike, but stay in the lot for the most part.  so its not beat that bad.  but if it were raced, then ur motor has def. been worked...
