woggie has stated he has an F4i but not the year. F4i's don't have threads for spools??? That sucks. But, I'll bet the swingarm is level, unlike the 600RR, so he should be able to use a universal stand.

Mine is a 2005 F4i...my understanding is that no F4i's have places to put spools from the factory.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

OH, and where did you drill your swingarm? Did the PitBull inserts come with instructions or some kind of template to locate them properly? God, I'd hate to mess that up. It also seems that they would need to be pretty close to the same location to keep loading of the stand and spools nice and even.

Yea, it comes with instructions to make sure you get the right spot. Right below where you put them there is a aluminum going front one side to the other inside the swingarm so they have to make sure you dont hit that.

And thanks for letting me know about the front wheel.

yo mang...universal stands will do good on the F4i unless it's got the attachment for the spools.
handy stands are bomb for price, but the other ones on this site look pretty bomb, just too much gixxer crap going on at that site so i'm turned off.
just don't buy the handy triple stands...straight up sucks arse but works, but sucks though...not too sturdy like their universal kit.

Dave, any chance of posting some detailed pics of your handywork? I just bought an '06 F4i myself and don't see how these stands work. I'm looking at my bike and definatley don't see any factory mounts of any kind. I like the idea of using spools since they seem like they would be very sturdy. When you say you drilled I assume you also tapped the holes to be able to bolt the spools on permanently?
Thanks,
-Steve

SCBOYCE, the kit he's talking about comes with riv-nut inserts, which accept the threads of the spools. No F4i ever left the factory with a spool mount provision.
I have used the Handy stands and I own a set of the Checkered Flag stands. In hindsight, I wish I had bought the Handy set. They are of a superior design, and the fit on the bike as well as the finish are top notch, whereas the Checkered Flag stands are better looking on paper, but don't work as well in real life. The pins on the front stand are very small, I'm not too confident in them holding the bike up if I start wrenching hard, and the rear is just two round pegs with rubber hose pushed on, instead of two big, supportive pads. The first time I used the rear stand [which I also had to assemble(no tools included for this), the Handy stands can be used right out of the box], the bike almost kissed the floor of my garage because the pegs slipped on the chain lube which had sprayed off under the swingarm. I recommend Handy!!

Sweet! You said the magic word. Riv-nut. I Googled on that and found these great pics...

I recently revisted the dealer where I bought the bike and looked at the RR models and noticed the threaded mounting holes. Most if not all the Super Sports had them. Funny the things you don't know to look for when you are new to the sport. Makes you wonder why Honda does not put them on the F4i.

I assume the 1/2" hole does not compromise the integrity of the swingarm enough to worry about.

Well it's been a while since I was looking for stands. I finally did buy the Handy stands. I bought both the pad and the spool attachements even though I decided not to put spools on my F4i. The pads work just fine. Pretty stable too.

Great stands, I like mine. It did take about three weeks to get mine, I ordered at late spring and guess they got hit with a huge order.
