it really isnt hard.  i posted a write up on how to do it on 1000rr.net. the site is down right now but under the maintenance section i put a pretty detailed write up on it.

you need a few special tools but Brad from www.superbikesupply.com rents the tools you need out dirt cheap

Doesn't powder coating them add weight????

My 95 FZR1000 had its upside down front fork legs annodized to a red color by  previous owner. They looked good.

I like your bike ...I love the all black. I have the same bike with not so many mods. I went to a dealer here in Miami and they said it would be cheaper for me to buy the 07 swing arm.....wtf. Anyway I'm going to do most of the labor myself and then send it to get powder coated, I'm waiting until I need to change my tyres so I can do both at the same time. I'm not going to do the front fork though. Once I do the swing arm and set up a power commander I'm finished modding my 1krr. I'm saving up for a used 06 600rr to track.

total cost was 200 dollars and that includes the powdercoating, old bearings pressed out, the cost of new bearings and getting them pressed into the swingarm.

its easy as hell and the black matched the ohlins gold perfectly

Looks great, have been thinking about getting mine powder coated too, going with titanium to match the plastics.  However, there are a few things higher on this list at the moment, like a pcIII w/dyno tune, and a new rear tire already.
