rdsii64 -> worlds fastest (7/14/2007 10:55:16 PM)

I was reading on my flight back to california yesterday and I came accoss something interesting when reading an artical about the new for 2008 GSX 1300R. What I found was that when the prior to 1999. the CBR 1100XX black bird was the worlds fastest production motorcycle. I find it comforting that it took a 175 horsepower 1300 CC beast to knock the blackbird off the pedistal. I don't ride a black bird. I ride a 91 1000F, But for what its worth, those of you who ride blackbirds can draw comfort that when your ride was first introduced to the public it not only was a great all round motorcycle,  that only honda could build but it was the fastest street legal production motorcycle in the world.

Kent Stotz proved that. he has the fastest honda in the world right now.. and he rides a blackbird but just recently went to the 1000RR

I had two of them, 2002 models, combined 32000 miles. The only thing bad that ever happened to either one was I lost a handlebar end one day. Never brought either to a shop for anything, never turned a sparkplug, nothing but air filter, oil & filters, and tires. Had a Two Bros full system Ti-Can, the P.F.I. did its thing and required no additional tuning or power commander......

Performance!............
2007 1k hondas, kawis, and zukes would pull ahead slightly below 100 for a little while but never took long to run them down. Always ran side by side with stock busa's from any speed to the limiter in 6th, never had a zx12 keep up with it. This past year the new zx14's DID pull away ever so slowly if the rider wasn't 250 lbs then he was mine with me at 165....
After all these years the only bike that could actually pull away at 100 roll on race with an equal weight rider to me was the zx14 and I assume the 08 busa as well. I traded the XX on a new 07 st1300 a few months back and love it.....

I heard that in America, there's a lot of speed control?
Luckely, I live near the German border, so I can drive as fast as I want.

frankgarvin -> RE: worlds fastest (9/13/2007 5:33:46 PM)

"speed control"   that is an interesting way to put it.

yea, speed limits exist here in the US.

the speed control is all in your right wrist.

To twist or not to twist, thats the question.

purpletj -> RE: worlds fastest (9/13/2007 7:48:54 PM)

I think he may be talking about the restrictions the US bikes have, Limiting them to 186.

ta8218 -> RE: worlds fastest (9/18/2007 7:43:07 PM)

I thought the kawi ninja zx-14 was the fastest production bike for a few years. Am I wrong?

purpletj -> RE: worlds fastest (9/18/2007 7:55:01 PM)

The ZX14 didnt come out till last year.

ta8218 -> RE: worlds fastest (9/23/2007 1:42:48 PM)

Right you are... stupid me. It is now though isnt it?

thomasintexas -> RE: worlds fastest (9/26/2007 11:59:01 AM)

HAHAH just imagine if you could get your hands on the tomahawk....186 mph is NOTHING compared to what you could do with a 500+rwhp v-10 1000lb rocket.....(im talking about the viper bike.....)

and i quote:
"The Dodge Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of nearly 400 mph."

http://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/tomahawk.html

i honestly dont think i have the sack to ride that thing....props to the test rider however...dude must have had a custom seat pan moulded to fit those bowling balls....[image]http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/houstonaftermidnight4/tomahawk-again.jpg[/image]

afi1 -> RE: worlds fastest (10/4/2007 9:38:44 PM)

He didn't really go that fast, that means with the gearing, the power, and the drag, some math wiz figures it could possably go that fast.  And if the Back Bird is so bad, why was it the fastest bike for only 1 year, where the Hayabusa was the fastest for like 7?  I'm not defending the 'Busa at all, I hate them too; but still?

alpha omega -> RE: worlds fastest (10/5/2007 5:42:49 AM)

The reason it was fastest for only one year is because everyone and thier mother was gunning aganist the zx-11 and as we all know timing is everything!!!!Honda just had a little bit of bad timing I would love to try and see what they could come up with to regain the speedking title

afi1 -> RE: worlds fastest (10/5/2007 7:48:58 AM)

Honda dosn't seem to care about speed or doing anything with bigger bikes.  the new 600RR seems to be what they're pouring all their time into.  And it paid off, the bike is badass.  But they've all but forgotten about their 1000RR.  The bike dissapointed me in everythig but the ergos.  It feels like a 750 compaired to the K7 Gixxer 1000 or the ZX10.  Honda needs to get it's ball rolling again and build some powerful repli-racers.

Rohan -> RE: worlds fastest (10/12/2007 5:17:09 AM)

I saw a DVD recently with a couple of mad blokes from Britain, comparing a Bird, 1000RR and Ducati 998. The bird blew 'em all away in the straights and in the twisty stuff around some gnarly roads in Europe. Awesome, wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. Same result from all three riders. The RR was the slowest.
Honda can make a good bike when they want too.
I ride an '87 hurricane. It too was the fastest production bike ever made up until that point, 160mph, 0-60 in 3 sec, that's still pretty good figures for 20 year old bike.
I have been looking to get a Bird as well, but the CBR fits like an old shoe, still blows a lot of new bikes away and I can ride it all day without feeling like my ar*e has been hammered by an ironing board.
Still, you gotta love fuel injection.

mountie -> RE: worlds fastest (12/21/2007 5:38:08 PM)

    My first bike was the world's fastest 750 (1979 CB750k)  My next bike was the world's fastest 750 (1983 v45 Interceptor).  My current bike was the world's fastest (1984 v65 Sabre).  My next bike will be the world's fastest (for 1987) in that I'm looking for a CBR 1000f.
I believe it's all relative.........
