Possibly it's just how the CBR1000's are during break-in but my new 07 hesitates in the low revs. I find myself having to rev a little higher just to make sure I don't stall when starting up. Anyone have their bike act this way when new? Do you think it's just some simple adjustment that needs to be made. Uping the idle is the last thing I want to do.

the 06 and 07 do that
it is probably right about 2500 rpms right

the flapper mod as well as removing the exhaust valve will help a little

also a gearing change and custom map will clear it right up

my custom map not only fixed the hesitiation but also made the torque curve jump dramatically right at the 2500 rpms mark

its because the bike is so stupid rich down low

do not raise the idle over 1200 rpms warm

oh and just because i want to get something started how are you breaking it in?

Breakin: Well, I've been keeping the rev's for the most part below 5000 rpm. I've only got 400 miles on the bike and my friend who is a motor head told me to start jumping on it occasionlly once I hit 500 miles. If you have some solid advice on breakin procedure's I'm all ears. Thanks.

Added a pcIII and this problem was fixed. For breaking it in, I kept it at 7k then once i hit 300, I would jump it up past 7k on occasions, once I got my pcIII. In about 4000 miles my mileage improved significantly. I am getting at least 150 before lights come on. Loving my RR, except for my passengers, hating it with a passion.

first why is the exhaust valve there. and then how do you get the exhaust valve out?

I must of got lucky,i have a 07 1000rr and i dont have any of that going on. My only prob with my bike is i cant seem to keep the front wheel on the ground. yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Has anyone else had proplem with what seems like a lack of low end power when the engine is hot enugh for fans to kick on at red lights. i saw 230 degrees today and when i go to start off at a light it seems i have to keep the revs up more than when the engine is at normal temps 170-190. Is there any negative effect to performing the flapper mod? is this in referance to an exhaust valve on the mid pipe? i have yosh slip on that eliminated the valve on the can.

see my response on the 1000rr stumble thread,
as for break in
dyno break in is the best
red line in each gear and then engine brake back to idle
the vacuum from the engine brakeing will seat the rings

then change the oil

if you want to go exactly by the manual
with a little paraphrasing since it is not in front of me
"pay close attention to how you ride for the first 300 miles. avoid hard starts or rapid acelleration during this time"

anyone that tells you that there are rpm limits have not read the owners or service manual and their advice is suspect

i did the flapper mod and i noticed a difference.

the exhaust valve is there so the engine will pass epa noise restrictions at idle
check 1000rr.net for more info and removal information
