I did a search already and didn't get very many solid answers. So I'll just throw this out there. I'm still looking for my first bike. I'm going to take the MSF at the end of the summer, and then I'll be able to test more bikes out but. Has any had any experience with the Hyosung GT250r. It looks like a solid first bike. It has the looks of a 600, with the forgivingness of a 250. So, if anyone has any experience with these, I would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

I had a GT650 before I got my 1kF... check out korider dot com...  Haven't been back there for a while but it was good while I had the Hyosung.  It's fairly reasonable to say they are a cheap rip off from Suzuki... I got a bit of a turkey but most people have a pretty good experience with them.  Mine was a yellow early 2005 GT6560.

Yea, I've been on that koriders.com a lot. It seems like the majority of the owners were pretty happy with their purchase. The one's who weren't said that the majority of the problem was the dealerships that they bought them from. I really like the way the bike looks, I'm going to a dealership sometime next week to see how  they look and feel in person. Does anyone else have any more experience with them?

I'd personally get the 650.    One, you wont out grow it (I still have my ninja 250 LOL) and its water cooled unlike the 250.   But thats just me.


Really check into these.   I've heard of some of them puking valves.    But who knows how they were treating them.

I was thinking about that, but, the price of the 250 is better. Also, this is my first bike, so I was told that a 250 would be better to start out with. That's why I was so excited when I saw this. It is just as forgiving as the Ninjas, the price is lower, I would get a brand new bike, and of course it looks a hell of a lot better. But I was going to spend 5000  I would just get a F4i. Which was what I was going to do for a while.

For a first bike you need to get a used bike.    I laugh evertime when something happens to new riders on new bikes.

The only thing is that it is hard to find a used Hyosung. And with the pricing on a new one, it's hard to beat. I get a brand new bike for the price of a 1999 F4 or something comparable. It just seems like a really good deal. And I've heard some good reviews of owners.

Thats the problem I ran into.   I would look up bikes and ask which were good for learners.   Once I had a list I'd search for them only to find out there was non and couldnt find any of them for months.   I eventually gave up and just waited till something popped up.   Even if I was interested in it, I'd go check it out.   I wanted something bigger than a 250 but ended up getting ninja 250 cause the price was great.   Bike + leather jacket + two helmets for under $2k.


I also got lucky on my VFR.   Great price and had a couple extras with it.  I had a few people till me it was way to early for me to get something that big (from 250 to 800cc  LOL)   But at the price I couldn't let it go and piss and moun about it later.   I've been riding my VFR since the first day I bought and have been cautious with to this day.    I dont recommend getting a big bike for your first, but I'm not gonna put ya down for it.   Just be safe.

No.   The idiot is the one that didn't listen and thinks with his penis and gets a bike he/she cant handle.     Like you never have the small faint laugh in the back of your head and thinking "I told ya so" or "I knew that was gonna happen."

I don't what you mean about thinking with my penis and getting a bike I can't handle. First of all we are talking about a 250, and second of all I've already ridden other bikes including an R6, and felt comfortable. I'm not trying to make myself sound like an extremely good rider, I know riding on the road is completely different than a parking lot, but I just don't understand what you mean about not being able to handle a 250. Please elaborate.

I was talking about people that go out and buy a big bike that they cant handle like a 600/750/1000cc as a first bike.

Before you make a commitment,  keep your eye open for used bikes.   You never know you might find a good bike for a good price cause of sctratches.   There's people out there that'll rather buy a whole new bike instead of fixing some small problems.
