I would suggest a Suzuki SV650 or 1000... They come with or without an upper fairing and there is a lot of aftermarket parts for this bike. I had an SV650s for a while and I could ride for a couple of hours comfortably. It still has a sport bike look but it has a more upright, less aggressive seating position.

I think my F4 is very comfortable for a sport bike-that's one of the reasons I got it.  I'm only 5'8 so it fits me well, but I could see how a taller rider might be a bit cramped on it.

The Honda 919 is a bad ass bike from what I have heard and they look cool IMO.  It has a slightly detuned 900RR engine in it and they are somewhat cheap to buy.  The 599 has the F3 engine in it and looks cool as well.

I have an 04 VFR that is soooo comfortable.  However, I used to ride it at the canyon before I got the CBR.  It could hang with anything I came across.  It is very capable, yet comfy on the highway.  The engine has so much low end torque that you think your on a litre bike, and yet your sitting up like a standard.
