On another forum I just read a post where they removed about 1.5 inches of pipe just on the inside, both left and right sides...

Used a dremmel tool, and claims it gave the RR a nice low growl.

Pic shows right side after mod, left side still stock.

I have heard of people cutting the baffle welds, then knocking it loose and pulling it out, but I am sure cutting would do the same...

probably would create a nice growl, however, the idea behind a sportbike is speed and acceleration. I wouldnt want to do anything to create turbulance in my exhust system.

I have never heard of someone doing it that way but I have drilled out my baffle plate and gotten a throttier sound, plus it did'nt affect the bike's performance in a bad way at all!

I did it on my 1000RR, sounds ok, it actually smooths out the exhaust flow too, don't remember exactly why, something about the exhaust has to go all the way to the back of the muffler, bounce back to get to the actual exhaust pipe and then exit from front to back. The sound is a little throatier but at high rpm's you get a little bit of rasp, not too bad though. I liked it.

i drilled my exhaust with a 1" hole saw and it turned out pretty good, not quite a deep deep sound but it sounds better to me than nothing, didn't affect my power at all
