hi guys i just bought a 02 954 rr, the bike hesistates when you take off from a complete stop it dosent matter if the bike is cold or warm, once you take off its fine all the gears are fine its just in 1st gear between 1k - 3k rpm it hesistates/boges. im new so any help would be good i have been told that "get a power commander and youll be fine" so just wanna get 2nd opinon before i spend $200+ on a power commander. im located in sacramento CA so if some is local or close by i would love to ride my bike at your place and if you can take it for a spin i would appreciate. thanks

Mine has always kinda bogged / hesitated way down low too, think its pretty normal really. I did think it improved slightly though when i took my flapper off.

try checkin ur plugs also for signs of fouling and proper gap distance, could be caused by a poor spark.

mine wouldnt hesitate so much as be real jerky at off-idle speeds up to 3-4k, a power commander smoothed it right out

my 29 does that also, like you said only in 1st gear from a roll there is an ever so slight hesitation... I've never worried, figured it was a characteric of the bike. I changed plugs, checked chain slack, was looking at all kinds of things when i first got the bike, i could never make it go away. I think its norm on the 29's and 54's.

yo mark my servo is disconnected and like fuze said i get a very very slight hesitation from roll on in first, but dont bother me anymore i just give it a lil more gas and lil less clutch when takin off. hey mark one quick question where u get ur seats done at? peopleschamp is it somethin that bothers u alot? if not and u can manage there is plenty more life in the 54 than just 1-3k enjoy the higher rpms!
