Sounds good but oil filters always have that papery inside that I don't see lasting forever. And if one was all metal and didn't have that papery inside I dont see how it would catch all of the debris. I say every 3k drop 10 bucks and get a new one

ORIGINAL: JimmieDon I dont see how it would catch all of the debris "Made from laser cut, medical grade, 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth, this filter provides 200% more filter area in many cases. Most good paper filters will pass particles in the 90 to 95 micron range, and some tested, as much as 300 microns. Sand is about 125 microns and a white blood cell approximately 25 microns. Our stainless filter catches items down to 35 microns "absolute", which is about 3 times better than most good paper or brass filters" I dunno???

This looks like the oil filter on the jet engines I work on made by Rolls Royce. Next time you guys change your oil take a hacksaw or cutting wheel and cut your filter can near the base, take it apart and see whats inside, you can see how its made and also what it has caught from your engine. Just make sure to wear some latex gloves, it's messy. I am not at all impressed with K&N, they are made like junk.

thats funny every test i have seen says that the K&N ranges from average to oem quality to an example of how a filter should be made http://www.tobycreek.org/oil_filters/ here is a test saying that the holes in the scotts filter are too large like 35 microns other good filters like honda oem and k&N filter from 10-20 microns its your bike http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Filters.html more negative press http://www.1000rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=24060&highlight=scotts+oil+filter

The filter advertised is an aircraft grade filter. Alot of these type filters do not have anny paper matieral in them. Just fine metal mesh screens. I would try it if i had 100 bucks to drop on a oil filter... oh here's 100 of them right here... buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck,

I was reading that the Pureolator Pure One is the best filter for your money. I will have to get on at work to get the web page that shows this.

Ok call me a newbie here but what makes BCM air filters better than K&N?

Looks like Baxsom beat me to the web site. Try the Calsci web site and look up cross reference. You will have to go to the filters listed for 5 at the bottom. I just cross referenced the K&N filters (KN204) to those listed for 5. Since they didn't list filters for the CBR. I think he does a break down of the filters and says that the K&N is "Made by Hi Flo. Average filter with a $6 nut welded onto the end cap.". The Amsoil filter was "Advanced media, but not much of it. A flawed superior filter.". Here is the link to the cross reference. I did notice there wasn't enough room for the long filters on my 04 since the stock filter almost touches the fairing. It rubs (Or almost rubs) on the foam protection inside the fairing. http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html Like I said scroll down to 5 for filters ok to use. I found Amazon had the Pure One filters (2 for $5.88) but shipping was $5.66 and the Mobil One was $9.99 locally. The Mobil one is 2 3/8" long and the Pure One is 2 7/8" long so I am not sure of the Pure One will fit since my measurments include an uncrushed gasket height in that measurement. I am still not sure exactly what the stock filter length is without a crushed gasket so I can't double check until I change the oil before winter storage.
