im thinking of polishing my frame, subframe and swingarm. anyone out there know the best paste, wax, or liquid to use? i was going to use semichrome paste and do it by hand. is it advised to use an electric buffer? i figured that it could leave swirls. any advise before the big winter project (polishing and painting) would be appreciated.

sorry guys but i gotta bump this thread back up to the top in hope for some responses.

my friend told me that i was all wrong in thinking that i could polish my frame with liquid compound only. he told me that i needed to sand it smooth (starting with course paper and gradually work my way to a finer grit paper) then i can use the polish to give it a mirror like shine.

i know that there are some people out there that have done this or know someone who has. any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. its cold here and time to start cleaning the beast.

sorry... can't help you here. I like the brushed or dull finish. Mirror or chrome belongs in the garage.

Get ready for a shitload of work. I polished the swingarm on my Aprilia and it was very time consuming. You first have to get the clearcoat off, then start wet sanding and work your way through each grit. Then I'd suggest Mothers polishing compound as a final step. The more time you take the more it will look like chrome.

thanks for the responses. after talking to a few people, i might leave the frame alone. sounds like a ton of work. besides, i picked up a swingarm from an erion (black) so i thought maybe i would have the subframe powdercoated black to match to swingarm and stock black rims. make it look a little more modern and decide what to do with the frame after that. i would powdercoat the frame but i really dont want to pull the engine and all the wiring. not too confident in my assembly skills.
