Make sure it doesn't say Energy Conserving

This is what you DON'T want it to say:

These oils contain "friction reducers" that may cause wet clutch systems to slip.  These are fine for your cage and are supposed to help it get better gas mileage.

Other than that, in my opinion, I don't care what brand it is.  I do prefer synthetic, but that is just a personal preference.

The brand of oil doesn't extend engine life.......the frequent changing of oil is what extends engine life. I change my oil 1000 miles before it's due (so every 2000 miles or 2 months.....whichever comes first.) I use good ol' Honda oil because that's the routine I've slipped into.

if you're going to be OCD like blue fox...then you should probably get an UOA from blackstone. it'll tell you what the oil is doing, when it's shearing, etc...this way you don't have to change more than necessary...AND you do the environment good!

I say Honda Oil is best. Why? Because it came factory fill in our bikes. Formulated for use in our engines and wet clutch by Honda.... Thats why

I would say you won't go wrong using the factory oil...but the best...nah.  I'd put my money on a company who's speciality and reputation are based around the quality of their oil...not a manufacturer that happens to recommends it's own oil and nobody else's.

I agree that usually the designers/engineers who conceived and built the vehicle are a safe bet when it comes to what fluids to run as they've been tested and proven to do their job.  But the best...not necessarily.

there is no best...it all depends on riding style, interval, condition, type, etc.
if you want to know oil is best for your style and your bike do a used oil anaylsis (it's 'a' and not 'an' even though the word following the letter 'a', which happens to be 'used' in this case, starts with a vowel)...it'll tell you what oil is best for your riding and bike and approximately when to change it out.
